PURPOSE: To mount numerous key s in a handy terminal which can be held on a hand by reducing a thickness of a keyboard, and folding both an obverse and a reverse as the keyboards. CONSTITUTION: A keyboard 2a is constituted of plural sets of two membrane switches (which are ones capable of converting a pressure of a finger into an electric signal) 3 are stuck to each other on the observe and reverse thereof In this case, a thin and strong plate 4 such as an aluminum plate is held between the switches 3 so as to prevent an interference effect on the reverse. One or more of keyboards 2a are prepared. The keyboards are fixed together to a display 1 as a book for free rotation at 180° on a line A-A as an axis. Consequently, numerous keys can be mounted, and as a result, the necessary keyboard 2a is opened for use. Since a thickness of the keyboard 2a is reduced and both the obverse and the reverse are folded as the keyboards 2a, the numerous keys can be mounted in a handy terminal which can be held on a hand. PURPOSE: To improve operability by providing the device with a pair of cases having operation parts, a hinge part for connecting these cases as a freely opening/closing book shape and a transmission part fixed to the hinge part to transmit the operation contents of said operation parts to an external device. CONSTITUTION: A main body 1 is constituted as a book shape connecting the cases 10, 30 each other through the hinge part 50 so as to freely open/close these cases and an operation time or a room temperature can be set up by opening both the cases 10, 30. The case 10 mounts a time setting button 11, a temperature setting button 12, a time display device 13, a temperature display device 14, and a lightness detecting part 15. The button 11 forms an operation part together with the display device 13 and a large shape is secured to improve operability. The button 12 also forms an operation part together with the display part 14 and a large shape is secured to improve operability. COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio

PURPOSE:To prolong the life of a conductor for using a hinge as a path, by allowing a flexible conductor to pass through continuous hollow joints so that two case parts can be rotated. CONSTITUTION:A calculator 1 is provided with a folding case containing two case half parts 2, 3. On the respective half parts 2, 3, a key pad 4 and 5 are placed, respectively. The pad 4 and 5 are connected electrically to a processor for showing the information on a display 6. These case half parts 2, 3 are connected with a hollow joint so that they can make roughly one rotation each other. In the inside of this hollow joint 7, the U-shaped part 19 of an elastic thin film for connecting elastic thin film keyboard aggregates 16 in the half parts 2, 3 is placed. In such way, in the part for connecting two pieces of half parts 2, 3, remarkable compression and tensile stress caused by usual bending do not exist, therefore, the life of a conductor for using a hinge as a path can be prolonged.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a key-switching device thinner by raising its strength and reduce the manufacturing cost, and to improve operation feeling of the same. SOLUTION: Small link members 14 and large link members 15 that are mutually orthogonal and rotate without contact are provided between a base board 12 and a key top 13. Lower ends of the small link members 14 are provided on slide guides 12a and 12b mounted on the base board 12 to freely slide, and together, upper ends are pivotally supported to slotted bearing parts 13a and 13b mounted on the lower end of the key top 13. Lower and upper ends of the said large link members 15 are pivotally supported to slotted bearing parts 12c, 12d and 13c, 13d mounted on the lower ends of the baseboard 12 and key top 13, respectively. The key top 13 is supported so as to be freely lifted by means of a rubber spring 16, the small link members 14 and said large link members 15. COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO

PURPOSE: To use the portable information terminal equipment with its door closed without opening the door by constituting the portable information terminal equipment in mount structure wherein a display device, a pressure sensitive type input device, and the door protecting them are put one over another. CONSTITUTION: The door 2 is fitted to a main body 1 through a hinge 5 and a display window 4 and switch buttons 3 are arranged on the door 2. The switch buttons 3 are formed of a soft rubber type elastic body 8 which has relatively large area at parts that come into contact with the pressure sensitive type input device 6. Further, the switch buttons 3 are supported by supports 9 fitted to the door 2. Further, a display device 10 is mounted below the pressure sensitive type input device 6 in contact with the pressure sensitive type input device 6. Consequently, even when the door 2 is closed, certain functions are available.

Each of first and second cases (10, 30) has a portable size and provides an operation portion, disposed at least on its inner surface, for setting operation conditions of an appliance to be controlled. A hinge (50) connects the first and second cases (10, 30) to form a book type case which can be freely opened/closed while the operation portions oppose each other. A transmitter (51) is disposed at the hinge (50) and transmits the set operation conditions to the appliance.

PURPOSE: To prolong the life of a flexible sheet by putting it in contact with a bent portion in the closed condition, equipping this portion with a guide member having an are-shaped part which gives a mild curve, and thereby securing a desired curve. CONSTITUTION: A pair of keyboards 3, 4 are supported in a single piece with possibility of opening and closing, and a flexible sheet 6 whereon conductor patterns are formed, provides electrical connections, and the bent portion of this flexible sheet 6 in closed condition is contacted, and a guide member 7 is equipped having an are-shaped part 7a which gives a mild curve. By this device the bent portion of flexible sheet 6 can be given a desired curve easily, and desired mild curve in closed condition will not be collapsed even though opening and closing are repeated. Thus the life of flexible sheet 6 can be prolonged. COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio

PURPOSE: A key switch is provided to ascend a key top as much as a stroke of a key top when uses the keyboard, and to make a thickness of a notebook computer or a PDA(Personal Digital Assistant) thin by being descended as much as the stroke of the key top when the keyboard is not used. CONSTITUTION: The key switch comprises the key top(1), a link, a plate(5), an FPC(Flexible Printed Circuit)(4) and a frame(3). The key top(1) is placed on a surface of the keyboard and performs an up/down movement by receiving a pressure of a finger and returning to an original state due to the pressure of the link. The link guides the up/down movement of the key top(1), is compressed by receiving the pressure of the key top(1) and offers click touch by a rapid bending phenomenon of a leaf spring(2A). The plate(5) is slid on a left/right direction and lowers the entire keyboard by lowering a height of the link when folding the keyboard or closing a cover of the computer.

A key structure includes a supporting plate, a keycap, a scissors-type connecting element, a movable element and a coupling structure. The keycap is disposed over the supporting plate. The coupling structure is connected with the scissors-type connecting element and the movable element. For operating the key structure, the cooperation of the movable element and the coupling structure allows the keycap to be at a higher first height. Consequently, the tactile feel of depressing the key structure is enhanced. Moreover, the cooperation of the movable element and the coupling structure can lower the height of the keycap. Consequently, the key structure has a slim appearance.
