1501125 Retractive switches LITTON INDUSTRIES Inc 5 March 1975 [1 April 1974] 9223/75 Heading H1N A multiple switching assembly comprises a two-dimensional array of switches formed by respective pairs of co-operable contacts 98, 114, contact 114 being carried by a first printed circuit card 106 and contact 98 being carried by resilient zones of a second printed circuit card 92, the cards being separated by spacing means containing apertures aligned with the contacts, the spacing means comprising first and second insulating sheets 108, 96 laminated with respective ones of the cards to provide in each case a laminate in which the conductive lines 112, 136 connected to the contacts are embedded. Each switch comprises a push-button 62 pressed against a respective bulge 90 in a plastics sheet 88, each push-button having a removable outer shell covering a label (66, Fig. 1, not shown). Sheets 106, 92, 88 and the push-button are of a light-transmitting material, and card 106 is backed by an electroluminescent light panel 122 and a back-plate 128. The pusn-buttons, apertures and contact areas may be circular, square or rectangular. Either or both of the contacts of one or more switches may be divided into two halves 144, 146 to form a double switch.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switch capable of maintaining high reliability without causing a contact failure due to an increase in contact resistance etc., even under the condition under which an area of an electrode pattern is forced to be smaller. SOLUTION: In a switch provided with two roughly parallel flat faces facing each other in which connection or disconnection between one electrode and other electrode is performed by pressing one flat face, contact patterns 301a and 301b of conductive substance of its specific shape is arranged on one flat face. On another flat face, stripe-shaped electrode patterns 101 to 108 and 111 to 118 on which said one electrode and said another electrode are positioned alternately is arranged and constituted in an area superposed on the contact patters on one flat face. In a keyswitch structure, a number of recesses are formed in a lower case, and a projection with a flat top surface is formed inside each of the recesses. The recesses communicate with each other by means of grooves formed on the lower case, and fixed contacts are provided on the projections. A pattern is formed on the under surface of a flexible substrate put on the lower case so that movable contacts, included in the pattern, face the fixed contacts. An elastic sheet with a number of buttons is put on the flexible substrate, and the flexible substrate and the elastic sheet are fixedly held between an upper case and the lower case. When any of the buttons of the elastic sheet is pushed, the elastic sheet and the flexible substrate are elastically deformed to bring the movable contacts into contact with the fixed contacts.

A tactile snap-action element for use in keyboards, the element comprising an arcuately shaped invertible first dome and a second dome shaped actuating protrusion extending from the invertible second dome, the actuating dome protrusion being integral with the invertible dome and being non-invertible. The element is operated by an actuation force which acts directly or indirectly through the non-inverting second dome to invert the first dome and to provide tactile feedback. The keyboard includes a plurality of keys, each key comprising an element, a conductive circuit associated with the first dome and movable with the inversion of the first dome to electrically contact a second conductive circuit associated with the element.

PURPOSE: To obtain an input tablet with high reliability of operation and with excellent position accuracy of detection by providing a detection resistor to at least one end side of two square transparent insulation bases in a direction crossing a conductive fine wire group. CONSTITUTION: The detection resistor 4 is provided to one end side 3 of the square base 2 on which plural fine wires 1 are arranged on one side in parallel in a direction crossing at a right angle to the fine wires. The detection resistor acts like inputting information of a coordinate position as a resistance or a voltage drop between A and B to an external circuit. Since the resistance inputted to a y-coordinate detector 7 corresponds to the y-coordinate of the depressed position, the coordinate is detected by the resistance. High accuracy is realized with a simple peripheral circuit by making the resistance of the conductive fine wires themselves and the resistance of the detection resistor identical at any position in the lengthwise direction of the detection resistor. PURPOSE: To selectively input a lot of information along an operation area by means of a single depressing operation, by forming an electrode along its lengthwise direction on the back surface of an operating member, and forming another electrode on the substrate so as to correspond to said electrode. CONSTITUTION: As for an electrode of an operation area 5, an electrode 33 is provided, and also an electrode 35 which is capable of coming into contact with an electrode 34 corresponding to an operation area 10 is formed. The second electrode 31 and the electrode 33 are connected by an electric connecting body 37 having a high resistance value. Also, the second electrode 31 and the electrode 35 are connected by an electric connecting body 36 having a high resistance value. An electric resistance value between a terminal 38 of the second electrode 31 and the electrodes 33, 35 connected by these electric connecting bodies 32, 36 and 37, and an aluminum foil 22 is detected by a microcomputer 39 for controlling the cooking by heating.
