261 Debonding tip for electrothermal dental bracket removal EP91303937.6 1991-05-01 EP0456401A1 1991-11-13 Martin, Patrick; McMillan, Richard L.

A debonding tip for electrothermal debonding device is disclosed. This debonding tip fits around the mesio distal sides and into the saddle slot of a dental bracket. The debonding tip causes rapid heating of the dental bracket and weakens the adhesive bond used to bond brackets to teeth. With the increased viscosity, the bracket is able to be rotated around and pulled off the tooth.

262 Improved equipment for carrying out bends on wires for orthodontics EP90105330.6 1990-03-21 EP0388917A1 1990-09-26 Drisaldi,Giovanni

The proposed equipment comprises a vice (5) for the wire, joined to the head (3) of the equipment itself; a plurality of surfaces or faces (7a) each having a plurality of holes (9) positioned along the lines (10) which represent the required bending outlines, the said faces (7a) being located adjacent to the said vice (5); a tool (11), from the lower end of which projects a needle (11c), suitable for penetrating the said holes (9) and rotating in them, and a pawl (11d) positioned at a certain distance from the said needle (11c), so as to realize an air space into which the said wire can penetrate; a series of pegs (14) suitable for locking the bends in the wire once they are realized; particularly, the tool (11) has an internal hole made up of portions (11g, 11h), into which the needle (11c) is free to slide, and the pawl (11d) is provided with a radial projection (11n), turned towards the needle (11c).

The axial position of the pawl (11d) can be adjusted by acting on a dower (11i), while a magnet (11e) is located in the upper surface of the tool (11), to facilitate the extraction of the pegs (14) from the holes (9). The faces (7a), which bear the bending outlines, represent the side surfaces of a drum (7) capable of being rotated around a pin (6) projecting from the surface (3b) of the head (3) of the equipment, and its angular position can be clamped by means of an appropriate device.

263 Electrothermal dental debracketing tool and method of removal EP89304330.7 1989-04-28 EP0340991A3 1990-08-22 Martin, Patrick E.

A heating element (30) is inserted into the archwire slot (2) of the tooth (5) in order to allow the adhesive surface (6) of a dental bracket (1) to become loose. Force is exerted by a pull wire (42), controlled by a force limiting spring (24), until the bracket is removed. No harm comes to the patient or the tooth.

A kit (10) containing magnetic modules (17), attachment wire (15) and a set of gages (16). The modules are rectangular prismatic formed from a cobalt-samarium alloy, covered with a chlorinated poly-p-xylene coating or stainless steel and jacketed in stainless steel with orthogonally related passages on opposite sides having rectangular cross-sections for receiving with a snug fit the rectangular cross-section attachment wire formed by welding together two lengths of standard edgewise wire. The gages provide means for spacing the modules when the latter are incorporated in an appliance. Appliances are illustrated for accomplishing a variety of orthodontic procedures. The construction of the modules and attachment wire permits construction of appliances where the modules are constrained in the jaw closed in centric condition to translate parallel to their respective pole faces in a ''sliding'' fashion.

272 INDIRECT BONDING TRAYS, NON-SLIDING ORTHODONTIC APPLIANCES, AND REGISTRATION SYSTEMS FOR USE THEREOF US15957760 2018-04-19 US20180303583A1 2018-10-25 Hongsheng Tong; Philong John Pham; Allen Huynh; Robert Lee; Vijay Dhaka
Non-sliding orthodontic appliances may include an archwire having male fasteners for locking in place with brackets in a non-sliding manner and interproximal loops for exerting forces on the brackets. Appropriate forces may be calculated according to vectors between initial and ideal tooth positions. The brackets may be transferred to a patient's teeth using indirect bonding trays which contain slots for holding and aligning each bracket. The trays may include integrated handles for facilitating handling, may be sectioned into smaller pieces for easier application, and/or may be labeled for facilitating proper registration. Superposition of a digital placement plan and clinical model after bonding may illustrate the accuracy of bracket placement. The archwire may comprise atraumatic ends to avoid patient discomfort. A color registration system can be used to facilitate the attachment of the archwire to the brackets. The archwire may be locked into place with the brackets using crimpable stops.

275 ORTHODONTIC GRIPPING DEVICE US15852344 2017-12-22 US20180153647A1 2018-06-07 Neil Chester
The present invention relates to an orthodontic gripping device having a body made of a superelastic metal alloy, cold worked titanium beta III, or solution heat treated and aged titanium beta III. The body has first and second, spaced apart arm portions connected to each other. Each arm portion includes a jaw portion having an inner, arch wire-gripping, surface. The inner gripping surfaces are disposed opposite one another in spaced relation with a station defined therebetween for receiving the arch wire. At least a portion of the station is sized smaller than the arch wire. The arm portions are resiliently deflectable outwardly away from each other to admit the arch wire into the station. Once seated in the station, the arch wire is tightly held by inner gripping surfaces so as to resist displacement of the gripping device relative to the arch wire.

A bracket body 3 is fixed to a base part 2, and a clip 4 is mounted on the bracket body 3 so as to move. An archwire slot 5 is provided on an upper face of the bracket body 3. A guide groove 9 for guiding a lower extended part 42 of the clip 4 is formed on a lower face of the bracket body 3, and provided at a position below the archwire slot 5. In a state where the slot is closed, an end 45 of the lower extended part 42 does not pass through the bracket body 3 up to a side face at an opposite side to a curved part of the bracket body 3. It is possible to provide an orthodontic bracket which has a lower height and has less possibility that a clip may be detached.

The invention relates to an orthodontic device which is particularly economical and as small as possible, and which has hooks and a small tube, produced from a sheet metal plate using stamping and bending techniques and without the use of welding or soldering. The orthodontic device comprises a base plate having a flat region with a gingival and an occlusal edge. An occlusal rolling forms the small tube. The gingival edge has a counter-directional rolling. Concave cuts are formed in the side edges in order to form wing-shaped hooks. Both rollings can hold an applicator/protector, with which the orthodontic device is protected during adhesion, and can then be applied to a tooth in the correct orientation.
