4 Adhesive for orthodontic members JP2013049961 2013-03-13 JP2013136628A 2013-07-11 NOMURA YASUHIRO; SHIMIZU NORIYOSHI; YASUMA SHIZUKA; SUZUKI TAKESHI; KAZAMA HIDEKI
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dental adhesive composition, which is colorless and transparent or has a color close to dental crown color in attachment of an orthodontic member, and can be easily discriminated from the dental crown in debonding or the like.SOLUTION: The adhesive for orthodontic members includes the following (A)-(C): (A) a polymerizable monomer containing an acidic group; (B) a polymerization initiator; and (C) a coumarin coloring matter. When emitted fluorescence is measured by irradiating a cured product 1.0±0.1 mm thick shortly after curing the adhesive with 480 nm-wavelength light, a fluorescence spectrum having a peak at 400-800 nm is observed, and the maximum fluorescence intensity of the phosphor spectrum is larger than the maximum fluorescence intensity, which is measured in the same condition, of a cured product of a predetermined reference curable composition.

PURPOSE: To obtain a ceramic orthodontic bracket comparatively easily detachable from the surface of a tooth, by connecting a central section and an end section on the tongue side of a channel and equipping a breakable web expanding longitudinally along the channel. CONSTITUTION: A central section and an end section 22, 24 of a orthodontic ceramic bracket 20 respectively include bite side and gingiva side tie wings 26, 28 expanding on an undercut or a groove for accepting a ligature of the bracket 20. The base of the central section 22 and the base of the end section 24 are mutually connected by a thin fragile web 38 expanding right under and along the whole length of a channel 32 for detaching and the channel 32 has a round bottom to increase the breakability of the web along the central longitudinal axis of the channel. When an orthodontic doctor desires to detach the bracket 20 from a tooth 40, he/she uses a pliers type tool to break the cementing bond between the bracket 20 and the tooth 40. COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
8 Instrument for removing electrothermally dental bracket and removing method JP10607889 1989-04-27 JPH0213451A 1990-01-17 PATORITSUKU II MAACHIN
PURPOSE: To heat a bracket while simultaneously loading adjusted tensile force to the bracket by inserting a heater machine element into the arcuate wire slot of a tooth and applying force through a pull wire adjusted by a spring for limiting force until the bracket is removed. CONSTITUTION: When a pull wire 42 is first attached to a groove 7 of a bracket 1 when operating a removing device, a heater element 30 is attached into an arcuate slot 2 of the bracket 1 at its terminal section 32. When an operator continuously presses a finger control part 56, a lamp 60 is separated away from the heater element 30, a switch 26 is activated and a spring 70 is compressed so as to apply electric energy to the heater element 30. Due to this movement of the lamp 60 or the compression of a spring 24, tensile force F is applied through a critical bar 66, pen tube 34, heater element 30 and wire 42 to a tie wing 3 of the bracket 1. When the force F exceeds the joint strength of an adhesive agent, the bracket 1 is removed from the surface of a tooth 5. COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO

10 REMOVABLE ADHESION MATERIAL EP12721542.4 2012-05-18 EP2709582A1 2014-03-26 WOLFART, Stefan; PICH, Andrij
The present invention relates in a first aspect to an adhesion material containing encapsulated phase-change material. In particular, the adhesion material is for cosmetical or medicinal use in the body of an individual. The adhesion material contains encapsulated phase-change material having preferably a phase transition temperature above 40°C, like above 55°C. The adhesion material is particularly useful for adhering elements, like dental restorations, e.g. crowns or bridge, or brackets on elements in the body of an individual, like teeth or implants. That is, the adhesion material is particularly useful for adhering material in dental applications. In another aspect, a method is provided allowing removing a bracket, a crown or bridge, from implants, abutments or teeth. Furthermore, dental implant restoration systems and kits for permanent fixation of implants allowing improved removal thereof are provided.
11 Debonding pliers EP06256075.0 2006-11-28 EP1790309A1 2007-05-30

An instrument for debonding an orthodontic bracket from a surface of a tooth includes first and second plier portions coupled for pivotal movement relative to one another. Each plier portion has a respective handle and a jaw with a respective bracket engaging portion. The instrument further includes a lever arm that is pivotally movable relative to the first and second plier portions and having a tooth engaging member on a first end. In one embodiment, the tooth engaging member is positioned on the lever arm such that it is moved between a jaw and the tooth surface when the bracket engaging portions are engaged with the orthodontic bracket and a second end of the lever arm is pivotally manipulated in a direction toward a handle of the plier portions. In another embodiment, at least part of at least one of the plier portions is flexible relative to the lever arm such that the lever arm moves the tooth engaging member relative to a jaw of the plier portions after the bracket engaging portions are engaged with the orthodontic bracket and the handles and lever arm pivotally manipulated in directions toward one another.

A debonding tip for electrothermal debonding device is disclosed. This debonding tip fits around the mesio distal sides and into the saddle slot of a dental bracket. The debonding tip causes rapid heating of the dental bracket and weakens the adhesive bond used to bond brackets to teeth. With the increased viscosity, the bracket is able to be rotated around and pulled off the tooth.

A heating element (30) is inserted into the archwire slot (2) of the tooth (5) in order to allow the adhesive surface (6) of a dental bracket (1) to become loose. Force is exerted by a pull wire (42), controlled by a force limiting spring (24), until the bracket is removed. No harm comes to the patient or the tooth.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoplastic-based polymer adhesive, and methods and apparatuses for their use in dental applications.SOLUTION: A thermoplastic-based polymer adhesive for use in dentistry includes a thermoplastic polymer and an additional polymer or additive including at least one moiety, monomer, or prepolymer capable of changing at least one property of the thermoplastic-based polymer adhesive when exposed to an activation energy. The activation energy may be heat energy and/or sonic or ultrasonic energy. Bonding a dental component to a tooth includes placing the thermoplastic-based polymer adhesive between the dental component and a surface of the tooth and compressing the dental component against the adhesive, and, while compressing, applying an activation energy to cause crosslinking of the additional polymer or additive with the thermoplastic polymer.

A hand instrument for detaching orthodontic brackets from a patient's teeth has first jaw, a second jaw and a blade that extends between the first jaw and the second jaw. The blade is received in a channel of a bracket during a debonding procedure, and serves to releasably clamp mesial and distal sections of the bracket to the hand instrument as the sections are detached from the tooth.
