The invention relates to a method for designing and/or visualizing at least one roll/felt pair in a paper or carton making machine press, wherein initially a press configuration is selected from quantities provided by a computer system taking into account the specific application and the desired paper or carton quality. In connection thereto, one of the presses of the respective press configuration is selected, wherein relevant output machines and roll parameters of the selected presses are read from a standard data base and displayed. Calculation and display of results of instantaneous drain operation of the selected press is then performed, wherein reference is made to a felt parameter read step from the standard data bank which takes place in the background. The parameters of the machines and rolls of each respective press are modified in order to design the roll/felt pair, wherein the modified drain operation of the respective roll /felt pair is continuously re-calculated and at least partially displayed as a trend. Calculation and display occurs in such a way that it is possible to visualize the results of calculations simultaneously by switching at will from roll analysis to felt analysis and fields are provided in each result display for renewed modification and indications concerning machine, roll and felt parameters.

248 HOOD FOR A WIRE PART AND FOR A PRESS SECTION EP96910056.0 1996-04-17 EP0772710A1 1997-05-14 LEINONEN, Antti; KIVIMAA, Juha; PETTERSSON, Henrik; HEIKKILÄ, Pertti; SALMINEN, Risto; LENTO, Tapio; NIEMIKKO, Hannu; KIILAVUORI, Erkki
The invention concerns a hood for a wire part and/or for a press section in a paper/board machine, comprising walls and a ceiling (10, 20), which form a closed hood around the wire part and/or the press section, air-conditioning being arranged in connection with the hood. The hood walls (10, 20) are composed of outer and inner walls, so that between them there is an air duct for passing a replacement air flow into the interior of the hood towards a substantial middle area of the paper machine through openings that have been made into the inner wall, the replacement air keeping the interior of the hood substantially dry and clean. The walls (10, 20) of the hood comprise a vertical side wall at the driving side, which wall is preferably fixed, and a tending-side vertical side wall and a ceiling, which have been formed as a single wall, which is preferably L-shaped and displaceable. The displaceable hood wall (10, 20) at the tending side is composed of two parts, so that the first hood wall (10) is placed on the wire section (110) and the second hood wall on the press section (120), which wall parts can be displaced apart from the wire part and the press section in opposite directions.
249 Papermaking belt and method of making the same using differential light transmission techniques EP91913639.0 1991-06-14 EP0536320B1 1994-08-31 TROKHAN, Paul, Dennis; BOUTILIER, Glenn, David
A backside textured papermaking belt is disclosed which is comprised of a framework and a reinforcing structure. The framework has a first surface which defines the paper-contacting side of the belt, a second surface opposite the first surface, and conduits which extend between first and second surfaces of the belt. The first surface of the framework has a paper side network formed therein which defines the conduits. The second surface of the framework has a backside network with passageways that provide surface texture irregularities in the backside network. The papermaking belt is made by applying a coating of photosensitive resinous material to a reinforcing structure which has opaque portions, and then exposing the photosensitive resinous material to light of an activating wavelength through a mask which has transparent and opaque regions and also through the reinforcing structure. A process for making paper products is also disclosed which involves applying a fluid pressure differential from a vaccum source through the belt to a partially-formed embryonic web of papermaking fibers. The fibers in the embryonic web are deflected into the conduits of the papermaking belt by the vaccum pressure while the papermaking belt and the embryonic web travel over the vaccum source. Following the deflection, the paper web is impressed with the paper side network of the belt, and dried to form the final product.
250 PAPERMAKING BELT AND METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME USING A TEXTURED CASTING SURFACE EP91912749.0 1991-06-14 EP0536281A1 1993-04-14 SMURKOSKI, John Andrew; LEGGITT, Gary Lindsey; WILSON, Gregory Lynn
