| PURPOSE: D-alaninepeptidase and a process for the preparation thereof are provided. The D-alaninepeptidase can increase the antimicrobial activity of antibiotics, so that the amount of antibiotics can be decreased when used together with D-alaninepeptidase. CONSTITUTION: A process for preparing D-alaninepeptidase comprises the steps of: culturing a D-alaninepeptidase producing microorganism, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens CMB01, in a medium; and isolating and purifying the D-alaninepeptidase from the cultured medium, wherein the D-alaninepeptidase has the following properties: its molecular weight is 195.2 kD, its isoelectric point is 4.9, it is active under acid condition while being inactive under alkali condition, its Km value to D-alanine-p-nitroanilide is 28.5 mM, and its Vmax value to D-alanine-p-nitroanilide is 1250 μM/min. | ||||||
