L-lysine contained in a sample can be efficiently determined by using the L-lysine .alpha.-oxidase. The preferred enzyme is an L-lysine .alpha.-oxidase, that is, a novel L-amino acid oxidase having very high substrate-specificity to L-lysine is produced by culturing a specific microorganism belonging to Trichoderma in a medium. |

PURPOSE: To estimate L-lysine remarkably with high sensitivity and simplicity by employing the enzyme reaction of L-lysine α-oxidase.
CONSTITUTION: L-lysine α-oxidase which the molds pertaining to trichodermer group produce dissolves L-rising under the presence of oxygen as represented by formula, αamino group of L-lysine is subjected to oxidation deamination to produce NH
3, H
2O
2, α-keto -ε- aminocaproic acid or Δ'-pyperizine-2-carboxylic acid. Accordingly, from the consuming amount of the products thereof or the consumed amount of O
2 in the reaction solution, L-lysine is estimated.
