The mixture contains an organic liquid which is polymerisable to form a solid polymer and whose viscosity at the moulding or forming temperature of the mixture is not more than 5 Pa.s. Dispersed in this liquid by means of a polymeric dispersant are finely divided particles of at least one inorganic filler in a proportion of at least 20 % by volume, if desired up to 90 % by volume, based on the total volume of the mixture. The dispersant keeps the filler particles in the polymerisable liquid in the state of a stable, deflocculated dispersion. The dispersant has in the molecule at least one chain-like component which is solvated by the polymerisable liquid and additionally contains at least one grouping which is capable of association with and attachment to the filler particles. The mixture is prepared by dispersing the particulate inorganic filler in the polymerisable organic liquid in the presence of the polymeric dispersant. Owing to the low viscosity of the mixture, it can be made into complicated shapes simply by casting and then be cured to form corresponding shaped articles composed of a composite multicomponent material in which the particulate inorganic filler is dispersed as a reinforcing material in an organic polymer matrix. Mouldings constructed in this way are obtainable in a simple manner and exhibit improved mechanical properties. | ||||||
