PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cable-filling material which comprises a specific water- absorbing resin dispersion and an organic polyisocyanate, thus is useful for inhibiting water from impregnating into optical fiber cables and electric wire cables.
SOLUTION: This cable-filling agent is composed of (A) a water-absorbing resin dispersion prepared by dispersing (i) a water-absorbing resin or its water absorbing gel in (ii) a polyol and (B) a liquid comprising an organic polyisocyanate. The component (i) is prepared by polymerizing water-soluble monomers or their precursors and a crosslinking agent and/or polysaccharide in the component (ii) (a polyol). As a component (ii), are preferably cited polyether-polyol, polyester-polyol, polybutadiene-polyol or the like. The weight proportion of the component (i) is preferably 1-70% based on the total of the components (i) and (ii).

A wound dressing product (10) includes a flexible backing member (14) which is vacuum formed to include a depression (38). A pressure-sensitive adhesive layer (16) extends across the depression (38) side of the flexible backing member (14). A hydrogel material (12) is positioned in the depression (38) of the flexible backing member (14) and a release liner (18) extends over the exposed pressure-sensitive adhesive layer (16) and the exposed hydrogel material (12) . The release liner (18) has a selective releasability whereby it can be removed from the wound dressing, product (10) intact, leaving a portion-of the pressure-sensitive adhesive (16) and the hydrogel material (12) exposed. |

PURPOSE: To protect and cover a wound while absorbing a wound ooze by using a transparent hydrogel material comprising specific amounts of a polyhydric alcohol, an isophorone diisocyanate terminal prepolymer, a polyethylene-oxide-based diamine, a salt, and balanced water.
CONSTITUTION: A hydrogel 12 comprises about 15 to 30wt.% of a polyhydric alcohol selected from among polypropylene glycol, polyethylene glycol, and glycerol about 8 to 14wt.% of isophorone diisocyanate terminal prepolymer, about 5 to 10wt.% of a polyethylene-oxide-based diamine, less than about 1wt.% salt (sodium chloride), and water. Therefore a wound ooze can be absorbed in a large amount and its gel-like integrity can be retained even after a wound protection material has been removed from a wounded part.

The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of crosslinked, water-insoluble, hydrophilic copolymers by copolymerisation of a hydrophilic homopolymer or copolymer with a hydrophobic macromer. These copolymers are suitable for use as hydrophilic membranes in separation methods, as wound bandages, body implants, for example artificial veins, furthermore as coatings on glass, metal, horn or ceramic, and as a support material for bioactive compounds. |
