167 Protective cover for loose sheets of paper - is secured by welding plastics strips by application of heat FR7922536 1979-09-10 FR2464827A1 1981-03-20
The protective cover for a collection of loose sheets (2) of paper or material samples is fitted by first making a row of holes along one edge of the sheet. Then the outside sheets are covered with a sheet of flexible material (9). The stack of sheets is then placed over a row of matching spikes (7) projecting from a strip (5) of plastic. The sheets are then pressed together by applying a second strip of plastics (6) with matching holes over the spikes. This upper strip (6) is then secured by welding it to the spikes (7) by applying heat.

Suggested adhesives have a base of polyvinyl chloride or polymeric acrylic compounds, rubber latex, synthetic or chlorinated rubber, or tne condensation products derived from butadiene, isoprene and isocyanates. The elastic threads 5 may be textile-covered and are preferably laid in the grooves 3 or threaded through the holes in an untensdoned state. To complete the binding, tapes 7 are stuck along one edge 15 end papers 6 (Fig. 4), and along the other edge to the inner edges of the front and back pages 1 and a further layer of tape 9 is secured to the spine, leaving strips 10 which are stuck to the cover 11, the outer leaf of each end paper 6 also being stuck over its whole area to the cover 11.
