CONSTITUTION: Raw water is introduced into a denitrifying tank 1, where the water is subjected to denitrification and BOD removal treatments in an anaerobic atmosphere by denitrifying bacteria. The slurry discharged from the tank 1 is subjected to solid- liquid sepn. in a settling tank 2. The settled carriers stuck with the denitrifying bacteria are returned into the tank 1, and the supernatant liquid is introduced into a digesting tank 3. The slurry treated aerobically in said tank is again subjected to the solid-liquid sepn. in a settling tank 4 and part of the supernatant is released. Part thereof is returned and circulated to the tank 1. The separated sludge is discharged partly as excess sludge to the outside of the system and is transparent partly into a sealed type P releasing tank 6, where the same is maintained anaerobically and is mixed and agitated with inflow raw waters. The P taken excessively in the sludge is released and a liquid mixture of said P and the sludge is again returned to the tank 3, then microorganism take in the P excessively. On the other hand, the excess sludge which is held stuck on the carriers is dehydrated with a dehydrating machine 7 and is incinerated in a furnace 8.
