CONSTITUTION: At the time of metal outgoing, the cylindrical or oval floating sluice 4 of a refractory structure, having a specific gravity between those of the slag 2 and the molten metal 3 is plunged into the slag 2 above the steel exhaust port 1. Then, the floating sluice 4 floats between the slag 2 in outgoing steel and the molten steel 3 and as soon as the outgoing of molten steel is finished, dams up the slag flow which is ready to flow into the steel exhaust port 1. Thus, the occurrence of a high speed steel flow in the neighborhood of the steel exhaust port at the end of steel outgoing period can be prevented and at the same time the admixture of slag into molten steel can be prevented without the lowering of the yield of steel.
