CONSTITUTION: SO
2 -contg. gas is enriched in a gas desulfurizer 2, is guided into a water-washing tower 4, and is washed with water from line 5, then introduced into a dehydration tower 12, comprising multiheat exchanger, and indirectly cooled. Water is condensed and separated from the gas, so that the gas is dehydrated to water content of less than several percent. The gas enters indirect heater 17 via line 16 and is heated at 200W400°C, then goes into a reduction reactor 18 having moving bed of anthracite, where the gas is held at 800W840°C so that SO
2 is reduced to gaseous sulfur. Cleaning liquid 6 from the washing tower and condensed water 15 from the dehydration tower are sent to a reservoir tank 7 and circulated as use for cleaning water. Cleaning waste liquid having decreased cleaning power is discharged from line 10 is made to make-up water.
