The briquette 1 placed in the combustor 5 is covered with a wire mesh 6 in order to red-heat said wire mesh 6 when the briquette 1 is burnt so that the carbon monoxide in the combustion gas is oxidized to become innoxious. Said apparatus provides a sufficient heating effect from the use of briquettes.
