CONSTITUTION: In a thermal transfer recording medium wherein a heat-meltable solid ink layer based on a colorant and a heat-meltable binder is provided on a support, as the components of the heat-meltable binder, fatty acid ester type wax having penetration of 3 or less and a polyamide resin are contained. The fatty acid ester wax constituting one of the components of the heat-meltable binder is obtained by independently using natural waxes such as carnauba wax, ouricury wax or rice wax and higher alcohol ester of higher fatty acid such as myricyl cerotinate, ceryl cerotinate or ceryl montanate or using the same as a mixture of two or more kinds of said waxes and the penetration thereof is adjusted to 3 or less. As the polyamide resin, one synthesized by the direct condensation of amino acid, the direct reaction of polyvalent amine with polybasic acid, the ring opening of lactam or the condensation of polymerized fatty acid and polyvalent amine is used.
