CONSTITUTION: A probe electrode 21 is connected together with a guard electrode 23 to the counter terminal of a potentiostat 24 through a current-detecting resistance 22. A reference electrode 26 is connected to the reference electrode terminal of the potentiostat and the test object metal 27 to measuring electrode terminal respectively. With such constitution, the current flowing in the probe electrode 21 is recorded as the voltage drop across the current-detecting resistance 22 by an amplifier 29 and recorder 30. In addition, the electrode potential of the test object metal 27 may be set with good accuracy without being affected by the magnitude of polarization at the interface of the electrodes 21 and 23 and electrolyte 28 and the spacing from the test object metal 27 and irrespective of the magnitude of the current, thus the measurement accuracy of the polarization curve depending upon the positions thereof on the metal 27 surface may be improved.
