CONSTITUTION: This antiulcer agent is obtained by compounding the depside (called as salvianolic acid A) of D-(t)-β-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)lactic acid and 2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenylethyl)caffeic acid as an active component with usual additives in adequate manner, and the resultant mixture is formulated in a conventional manner. This agent can be prepared in a form of tablets, capsules, granules, etc. The daily dose for an adult is 20-200mg, which is administered in 1-3 divided doses. Acting on the terminal step of gastric acid secretion, salvianolic acid A exhibits an effective and excellent antiulcer activity even on gastric acid secretion, which is not caused by histamine, and has a new mechanism.
