CONSTITUTION: In the surface treatment of a superplastic Zn alloy having 1:1W 4:1 ratio of Zn:Al, the alloy surface is cleaned by degreasing with trichlene and subjected to AC electrolytic treatment in an electrolytic bath made of aqueous soln. contg. ≤30wt% oxalic acid and 0.5W5wt% salt of an org. acid such as sodium gluconate, potassium oxalate or sodium tartrate as a Zn dissolution inhibitor. Thus, an electrolytic protective film with superior dyeability can be formed without dissolving Zn contained in the alloy into the electrolytic bath.
