These layers 14 and 15 commonly use the electrode 13 as the opposite electrodes of the electrodes 11 and 12. An electric power source 17 and a polarity change- over switch 18 are connected with a display portion 19 such that the electrodes 11 and 12 have the same polarity. If, now, the display portion 19 is driven such that the electrodes 11 and 12 are in negative polarity, the layer 14 and 15 simultaneously exhibit colors.
