EXAMPLE: α-[4-(5-Trifluoromethyl-2-pyridyloxy) phenoxy]-α-(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl) acetophenone.
USE: Agricultural and horticultural fungicides, particularly effective against powdery mildew and rust.
PROCESS: A compound of formula II is reacted with compounds of formula III and the formula YH to give the objective compound of formula I wherein X is carbonyl group. Alternatively, a compound of formula IV is reacted with a compound of the formula YH. The compound thus obtained is reduced to form the compound of formula I wherein X is hydroxymethylene group.
