CONSTITUTION: 1W10wt% aqueous solution of the extract of the seed of horse chestnut is made to contact with a synthetic polymeric adsorbent resin having macro-network structure (e.g. non-polar or inter-mediately polar resin such as Diaion HP-10). The amount of the adsorbent resin is 0.5W10pts.wt. per 1pt.wt. of the horse chestnut seed. Aescin can be adsorbed to the resin by this procedure. Most part of impurities are left unadsorbed in the solution. The resin containing adsorbed aescin is thoroughly washed with water and made to contact with a hydrophilic organic solvent or its mixture with water to obtain the aescin fraction separated from the impurities.
EFFECT: The purified aescin has extremely low hygroscopicity and can be left in air for a long period without causing blocking.

7 METHODS
