4 or the like, then it is taken out from the solution and is dried, followed by baking to convert the immersed half into a catalyst, whereby the first filter member 1 is obtained. On the other hand the other half which has not been immersed in the solution is used as the second filter member 2. The filter members 1, 2 are used by fitting them in an exhaust-gas passage of a diesel engine or the like.
