67 SO-CALLED FOLD-AWAY BED EP04764683.1 2004-09-01 EP1667553B1 2007-07-25 BRUN GIANCARLO
The invention concerns a so-called fold-away bed, to be used in the fields of camping, seamanship, furnishing of bedsits and in all other dwellings where there is a lack of space, for which reason the components of the furniture must take up a minimum amount of space. Such a bed is characterised in that, in rest state, it is lifted until it comes into contact with the ceiling of the room in which it is inserted. In the dependant claims of the finding there are also special means that allow said bed to be moved.
68 BED WITH VARIABLE SURFACE SIZE EP02713335.4 2002-03-22 EP1385405B1 2006-11-02 HAKANSSON, Patrik; SLEUTJES, Tom; VERHOEVEN, Marc; VAN RENS, Frans
The present invention relates to a bed arrangement with a variable bed surface. The bed arrangement comprises a first bed element with a first bed surface (6a), at least a supplementing second bed element with a second bed surface (7a) and connecting devices (9, 10) which allow positioning of the second bed element relative to the first bed element so that the bed arrangement is provided with a bed surface which comprises the first bed surface (6a) and the second bed surface (7a). The second bed surface comprises a material body (7) made of an elastic material and bed arrangement means which allow shaping of the material body (7) to make it possible to adjust the size of the second bed surface (7a).

73 Mattress for aircraft seat EP00309429.9 2000-10-26 EP1099627A1 2001-05-16 Harcourt, Geoffrey

A mattress (7) is provided for use with an aircraft seat having a seat portion (2), a back portion (3) and a footrest (5), the aircraft seat being capable of occupying a reclining or recumbent position in which the back portion (3), seat portion (2) and footrest (5) present an upper surface for lying on. The mattress (7) has one non-planar surface (8) which has a shape complementary to the shape presented by the upper surface shape of the seat portion (2), back portion (3) and footrest (5). The other surface (9) of the mattress (7) is substantially planar. Thus, when the non-planar surface (8) of the mattress (7) is placed on the seat and back portions (2) and (3) and the footrest (5), the surface (8) of the mattress (7) conforms to the upper surface of the seat and the surface (9) of the mattress (7) presents a substantially planar horizontal surface for sleeping.

A frame 10 has connected thereto a table 12 and a pair or benches 14 and 16 on either side thereof. The table 12 is mounted on telescopic tubes 64 and may be lowered so that the surfaces of the table and benches are generally coextensive to provide a double bed. Prior to lowering the table into the double bed configuration the bench 16 is slid away from the frame 10, and the table 12 pivoted through 180° so that its reverse upholstered side faces upwardly.

The bench 14 may be pivoted downwardly to lie flat with the frame. The table 12 and bench 16 may be pivoted about 25 to lie in the region of the frame, either to be flat therewith or to provide upwardly facing surfaces, for instance for bunk beds.
