25 Chemical admixture for cementitious compositions US10877314 2004-06-24 US20050051058A1 2005-03-10 Semyon Shimanovich
A non-chloride powder admixture that, when added to concrete, substantially reduces the setting time for concrete and increases the strength of the concrete is provided. The powder admixture preferably comprises a calcium aluminate compound (e.g., SECAR 51) and a lithium carbonate compound. The calcium aluminate compound preferably has at least 51.7% alumina. In some embodiments, a surfactant may be added to the mixture of the calcium aluminate compound and the lithium carbonate compound. In some embodiments, the powder admixture may be blended with a cementitious material, such as fly ash or slag. Upon adding water to the admixture and cementitious material mixture, both the setting time of the mixture reduces and the strength of the mixture increases as compared to the setting time and strength of the cementitious material without the powder admixture.
26 Sulfate-free and alkali-free setting and hardening accelerator US09881685 2001-06-18 US06540826B2 2003-04-01 Marcel Sommer; Franz Wombacher; Theodor A. Burge
Described are setting and hardening accelerators for hydraulic binders and said binder comprising compositions that are free of sulfates, alkali metals and chlorides. The setting and hardening accelerators comprise, as main component, water-soluble fluoride comprising aluminum salts and optionally complexing agents and/or amines. In comparison with alkaline accelerators, said accelerators result in an essential shortening of the setting time and a fast development of compressive strengths. In comparison with commercially available alkali-free accelerators based on aluminum sulfate and organic acids, by the accelerator of the present invention the later formation of ettringite is prevented.
27 Stabilized setting and hardening accelerator of low viscosity US09697351 2000-10-27 US06514327B1 2003-02-04 Theodor A. Bürge; Marcel Sommer; Franz Wombacher
Described are liquid setting and hardening accelerators for hydraulic binders and such binder comprising mixtures that preferably are alkali-free and chloride-free and that do not comprise any basic features. The setting accelerators comprise as components aluminum salts, complexing agents, corrosion inhibitors and optionally inorganic and/or organic thickening or thixotropic agents. In comparison with the use of alkaline accelerators, an essential reduction in the setting time and a faster development of high compressive strengths is achieved by the accelerators of the present invention. In comparison with commercially available alkali-free accelerators solid precipitates of aluminum salts and thereby generated plugging up of the spray nozzles is avoided and the corrosion at the spraying devices is eliminated. Said advantages result in a great economic advantage due to less maintenance needed for the devices and less interruptions of work.

29 Process for accelerating the setting and hardening of material which contains a hydraulic binder, setting and hardening accelerator and use of a mixture for accelerating the setting and hardening US354144 1994-12-06 US5560774A 1996-10-01 Theodor A. B urge; Klemens B osch; Dieter Mai
In a process for accelerating the setting and hardening of a material which contains a hydraulic binder or which consists of a hydraulic binder there is used a setting accelerator mixture which is free of alkali metals and free of chlorides. Said setting accelerating mixture contains at least one water soluble sulfate of a polyvalent cation and a further constituent which is selected from the group consisting of calcium aluminate, calcium sulfoaluminate, basic aluminum salts, mixtures thereof or mixtures containing at least one of said constituents and a further component. If the water soluble sulfate of the polyvalent cation is aluminum sulfate, then said compound has to contain crystal water in order to provide the water solubility of said product. With the setting accelerating mixtures, a fast gaining of strength of a corresponding mortar or concrete is achieved and the finally hardened product has better mechanical characteristics then corresponding products prepared without the adding of any set accelerating admixture.
