161 Conveyor idler with locking device for preventing reverse rotation US10542114 2004-01-13 US20060137958A1 2006-06-29 Bogdan Bogdanovic
A conveyor idler includes a drum having an outer surface and an inner surface, a shaft (24) about which the drum can rotate in a forward direction, a locking mechanism for preventing the drum from rotating in a reverse direction (R) but which locking mechanism permits rotation of the drum in the forward direction, the locking mechanism having at least one wedging surface (44) fixed directly or indirectly to the drum, and a locking member (38) interposed between the wedging surface and the shaft, the locking member being rotatable about the shaft when the drum rotates in the forward direction, but when an attempt is made to rotate the drum in the reverse direction the locking member becomes releasably wedged between the wedging surface and the shaft, or a surface fixed to the shaft, thereby preventing the drum from rotating in the reverse direction.
162 Conveyor gear with return lock US11036287 2005-01-18 US20050176554A1 2005-08-11 Gert Schonnenbeck; Peter Faust; Marcel Offermann; Peter Janssen
The invention relates to a gear for conveyors which has a drive shaft to which a drive motor is to be fastened as well as an output shaft with which the gear is connected to the conveyor. However, at least one gear step is provided within the gear. Moreover, the gear is provided with a freewheel locking in one direction of rotation. A second gear step is provided in this case between the freewheel and the elements transmitting torque between drive and output shaft during normal operation, so that the freewheel should be operated at a higher speed and must only provide a low holding moment in the event of a stoppage.
163 Retaining device for a conveyor belt assembly US10470168 2003-07-23 US06814220B1 2004-11-09 Jan Harmes Nieuwoudt
A retaining device (10) for a conveyor belt assembly (12) which includes a clamping means (14) for clamping a conveyor belt (36) of the conveyor belt assembly, and a biasing means (38,40) for displacing the clamping means between an inoperative condition and an operative retaining condition wherein the clamping means clamps a part of the belt to tension a material carrying portion of the belt in the event of a loss of tension in the belt.
164 Escalator broken roller detector US864321 1992-04-06 US5236075A 1993-08-17 Horst M. Bartmann
The detector is designed to sense one or more broken rollers on an escalator, and then to automatically shut down the escalator to prevent damage or injury. Dual proximity sensors are positionable proximate a roller path so as to sense the outside diameter of each roller as the roller passes close to the sensors when the escalator is in motion. As long as each roller is intact, the sensors will transmit a symmetrical time pulse signal. A broken roller will fall away from its spool and no longer trigger the sensors, and the resulting interruption will interrupt the symmetry and turn off the escalator.
165 Conveyor anti-runaway apparatus US640793 1991-01-14 US5060789A 1991-10-29 Lester R. Nelson
A conveyor anti-runaway apparatus is provided for a conveyor of the type driven by an electric motor connected to a source of electrical power. The anti-runaway apparatus includes a switch tripping device having a tripping arm structure which is periodically bumped by conveyor wheel structure and which is caused to pivot into a switch opening position when the conveyor speed is unacceptably high. The tripping arm structure also functions as a blocking element to prevent conveyor movement. Jackscrew structure is provided to permit rapid disengagement of the tripping arm structure to facilitate restart of the conveyor.
166 Drive motor controlling device for a material transporting conveyor US168364 1988-03-15 US4858747A 1989-08-22 Charles S. Eunson
A conveyor is shown having an endless material transporting member running between an idler sprocket at one end and a drive sprocket at the other, both supported in a frame of the conveyor. A drive motor is used to drive the drive sprocket, and hence the conveyor. A controlling device for the motor is provided having a pivotally mounted slack sensing lever having a first rest position spaced apart beneath an upper flight of the endless material transporting member. A counterweight, resting on a stop urges the lever in position. The lever is fixed to a pivot pin, which has a trip lever attached. Upon slack in the chain deflecting the slack sensing lever, the pivot pin rotates moving the trip lever which in turn activates a microswitch controlling the motor. Upon sufficient deflection, the motor will be de-activated. In another aspect of the invention, a foreign object sensing flap is provided, which through linking elements, can cause the motor to be similarly de-activated, upon the material being transported, being carried past the exit of the conveyor.
167 Frictional belt brake US123743 1980-02-22 US4314631A 1982-02-09 Enoch R. Hagerman; Richard H. Walkden
A brake device which is used to prevent reverse movement of a belt run and which includes a wedge member which is pivotally supported above the belt run. Upon reverse movement of the belt run, the wedge member is drawn into pinching contact with the belt.
168 Apparatus for controlling a conveyor drive upon conveyor chain breakage US937478 1978-08-28 US4245739A 1981-01-20 Dennis Hartley; Peter Phillips
A conveyor arrangement wherein difficulties associated with breakage of a conveyor chain are overcome by providing hydraulic rams mounted between conveyor parts which are urged together in operation. The pressure in the hydraulic rams is monitored and when the chain breaks, the change in pressure or hydraulic ram extension is detected by switches which switch off the conveyor motor. A computer means is notified of the monitored pressure of the hydraulic ram.

The device includes a chain strand with a concave section (14) where the contact point (31) of a pivoting arm (3) rests and slides on the chain (28) of the chain strand. The pivoting arm (3) is firmly mounted on the shaft (33) which is pivoted in the frame (2) of the chain conveyor (1). The pivoting arm (3) is coupled with the source (4) of a compressive force (P), e.g. in a form of a weight (47) or a torsion spring (41). The pivoting arm (3) is coupled with the shaft (33) and therefore with the indicator (5) of tension of the chain strand. The compressive force (P) compensates for the change in resistance and lengthening of the chain (28) when the chain conveyor (1) is running, wherein its chain strand has been pre-tensioned by the basic pre-tensioning force (F) induced by the tensioning device (22). The co-acting of the pre-tensioning force (F) and the compressive force (P) creates the operating tension which is not only indicated but also optimized by the device of the invention depending on the change in resistance in the chain strand.

An apparatus for preventing breakage of a power supply unit is disclosed. The disclosed apparatus for preventing breakage of a power supply unit comprises a power reel unit; a fixed frame; a moving unit; an elastic member; and a sensing member. The power reel unit is installed in the body unit of a consecutive unloading machine to be able to rotate, and winds a power supply cable. The fixed frame covers the power reel unit by being fixed in the body unit. The moving unit which comprises an inner space for the power cable to pass by is installed in the lower part of the power reel unit, and makes a support protruding upward enter the fixed frame and move up and down. The elastic member is installed inside the fixed frame and supports the moving unit upward based on elastic force. The sensing member is installed in a downward passage of the moving unit, and senses the movement of the moving unit to generate a measurement signal.
