81 Conveyor idler US09999181 2001-12-03 US20020066648A1 2002-06-06 Tertius F. Dreyer
A conveyor idler includes a sleeve having an outer surface and an inner surface, a shaft about which the sleeve can rotate in a forward direction, a locking mechanism for preventing the sleeve from rotating in a reverse direction, but which locking mechanism permits rotation of the sleeve in the forward direction, the locking mechanism being located within the sleeve and having a shaft member fixed to the shaft, with at least one locking member which can move between an unlocked position in which the sleeve can rotate in the forward direction and a locked position in which the locking member locks the sleeve to the shaft member to prevent rotation of the sleeve in the reverse direction.
82 Braking system for an electrically-operated road such as an escalator US40228073 1973-10-01 US3896925A 1975-07-29 MITSUI TSUYOSHI; HIRAMOTO TAKEJI; IMANAKA MITIO
In an electrically operated road, such as an escalator, a braking force for stopping the electrically operated road is changed according to whether the running direction is upwardly or downwardly, so that the braking deceleration of the road during emergency stopping of operations will become independent of the running direction of the electrically operated road.
83 Safety brake apparatus for belt conveyor US37642373 1973-07-05 US3871514A 1975-03-18 HEWITT JOHN H; JOHNSON ERNEST D
A safety brake apparatus for stopping a conveyor belt in the event of a drive chain failure comprises at least one drum which engages the conveyor and a ratchet assembly which is mounted on the drum. Attached to the ratchet assembly is a brake member which engages the drum. Mounted juxtaposition to the ratchet is a pawl bar. A member which detects a break in the drive chain causes the pawl bar to rotate and contact the ratchet so that through the brake member the conveyor drum is slowed and stopped.

85 CONVEYOR SYSTEM, BELT, AND METHOD USING ACCELEROMETERS EP11838439 2011-10-17 EP2635512A4 2017-09-13 DEPASO JOSEPH M
Conveying systems and method for measuring accelerations in a conveyor advancing through process equipment and taking remedial and prophylactic action in response. The conveyor system includes a conveyor with embedded accelerometers making measurements conveyor accelerations. A controller uses the measurements to control the speed of the conveyor to compensate for unwanted accelerations or to damp the unwanted accelerations. The controller can also use the measurements to warn of unwanted accelerations or to predict the failure of associated or nearby equipment so that maintenance can be scheduled and to detect imminent failures and shut down the process.

PURPOSE:To accomplish complete stop and reversing of a conveyer by disposing a tension arm in pressure contact with the side of a chain, which is turned by lowering of chain tension to increase in tension thereof, and releasing the engagement of a latch by movement of the arm. CONSTITUTION:When a chain is cut, tension of the chain is lost to cause slackening, so that a tension arm 10 on movable side is turned clockwise by weight of a weight 15. Whereupon, a stopper 17 is disengaged from an engaging piece 18, so that a latch 8 is turned and forced to drop by its dead load to cross a rail 1 and locate the braking surface 8a thereof within the running area of a trolley 2. The trolley 2 collides with the braking surface 8a to stop and be kept from reckless driving. Thus, the conveyer can be stopped completely and reversed.
96 Abnormality detecting equipment for driving shaft system JP1142483 1983-01-28 JPS59138516A 1984-08-09 MATSUMOTO MOTOO
PURPOSE:To enable mechanical abnormality such as breakage of the driving shaft joint of a conveying equipment to be easily detected by comparing the signal of a differential current between the main electric currents of a plurality of motors which drive the conveying equipment, with the preset value and by outputting, if they differ with other, an abnormality detecting signal. CONSTITUTION:Signal 24 of a differential current between main electric currents 21 and 22 of a plurality of motors M1 and M2, which drive conveying equipment such as a conveyor or a roller table, is detected by a transducer 20, while the signal 24 of the differential current is converted into d.c. by means of a rectifier 23 and is smoothed out by a smoothing circuit 25. A differential current signal 27 from the smoothing circuit 25 is compared with the preset value by using a set circuit 26. If the both differ with each other, an abnormality detecting signal 28 is output by using a switching circuit that is built-in in the circuit 26. Thus, a mechanical abnormality such as breakage of a joint for a driving shaft or wear-down or sticking of a bearing of the conveying equipment can be found easily.

98 Controller of conveyor JP14822282 1982-08-26 JPS58207211A 1983-12-02 MATSUDAIRA TAKAYUKI
PURPOSE:To prevent slack of a conveyor chain by providing individual slack characteristic circuits and an acceleration and deceleration estimating circuit for speed control systems and by turning on and off the slack characteristic circuits in accordance with an output signal of the acceleration and deceleration estimating circuit. CONSTITUTION:Speed control systems of motors M and Ms which drive conveyor chains individually involve slack characteristic circuits D and Ds which reduce the speed control output, and an acceleration and deceleration estimating circuit E which estimates the latest speed control condition is connected to those systems to turn on and off the slack characteristic circuits D and Ds in accordance with output signals a1 and a2 of the acceleration and deceleration estimating circuit E. The follow-up speed to a reference value may be slowed, so that the conveyor chain can be controlled so as not to show a slack, if transfer articles are carried on the descendant slope.
99 HUMAN TRANSPORT DEVICE HAVING A MONITORING APPARATUS US15750462 2016-08-02 US20180237270A1 2018-08-23 Irfan AKYURT; Christopher BUSEMANN; Aurelio CASTAÑO LANTERO
A human transport device such as an escalator or a moving walkway may include tread elements connected into an endless transport belt, a drive unit for driving the transport belt, and a monitoring apparatus for detecting a faulty arrangement of at least one of the tread elements in the transport belt. The tread elements of the driven transport belt may pass through a transport region and a return region between a first return station and a second return station. The monitoring apparatus may have a detection means and a triggering unit. The detection means may be arranged in a direction of a longitudinal extension of the human transport device below the tread elements of the transport region between the first and second return stations. The detection means may be connected to the triggering unit, and the triggering unit may actuate upon mechanical influence on the detection means.
100 Chain Monitoring System US15726073 2017-10-05 US20180162651A1 2018-06-14 Scott C. McCally; Jay K. Smith
A monitoring and feedback system may provide real-time feedback on the bearings in the chain of a proofer/oven conveyor system. The system may detect a bearing seizure before any damage can occur to the track and/or may provide for improper lubrication detection. Accordingly, a chain section or a bearing may be pulled out of the conveyor system for repair/replacement, thereby prolonging the life of the conveyor system as a whole, including the conveyor chain and bearings.
