28 UMBRELLA (STICK-INCLINATION-ANGLE MULTISTAGE DISPLACEMENTS) PCT/JP2008073376 2008-12-24 WO2009101752A9 2010-01-07 IZUMI KANJI; IZUMI TOSHIKO
Provided is an umbrella, the canopy of which can be moved in the angle of inclination according to the position of the sun while the stick of the umbrella being retained or fixed by a support member for supporting the upright state of the stick, and the inclination angle of which can be locked (or held) at the moved position so that the umbrella allows the user to use the two hands not only in the shade in the fine, hot weather but also in the rain. The umbrella comprises a joint portion for giving the umbrella stick an inclination angle so that the stick is held at multiple stages in the inclination angle over a cylinder covering the joint portion. A joint member includes a pin notched to have an elastic portion, or an elastic portion disposed in the recess of the joint member. A plurality of recesses are formed in the leading end of the protrusion of the joint member in the same direction as the axial direction of the pin. Protrusions corresponding to the recesses are formed on the recess of the joint member, or the elastic portion is disposed in the recess of the joint portion. Moreover, protrusions are formed on the inner wall of the leading end portions of the recess of the joint portion. A plurality of recesses corresponding to the protrusions are formed in a sector shape in the bulging side face of the joint portion. A lock mechanism is mounted in an outer cylinder or a pin. The umbrella is manufactured by applying a sheet member, which is prepared by adding a waterproofing property to the sheet member having a light/heat shielding property, to the canopy of the umbrella.

33 Tiltable sunshade EP12170349.0 2012-05-31 EP2668866A1 2013-12-04 Tung, Benson

A sunshade (12) includes a pole (111) rotatably receiving a screw rod (295) that is can be rotated by operating a handle (213) to cause movement of a follower (277) in the pole (111) between a folded position, an unfolded position, and a tilted position. A runner (297) is mounted around the pole (111) and fixed to the follower (277) to move therewith. A pivotable member (383) is pivotably connected to a fixing member (363) fixed on an upper end (113) of the pole (111). Ribs (451) are pivotably mounted to a hub (439) fixed on the pivotable member (383). Stretchers (313) are pivotably mounted between the ribs (451) and the runner (297). The hub (439) and the ribs (451) are tilted when the pivotable member (383) is pivoted due to movement of the follower (277) from the unfolded position to the tilted position.

A skeleton including a main supporting rod, an upper fixing member, a main center rod, a push handle, a middle connecting piece and a sub-supporting rod is disclosed. The main supporting rod is hinged to the sub-supporting rod via the middle connecting piece. An upper end of the main center rod is fixedly connected to the upper fixing member. The push handle is hinged to an end of the sub-supporting rod and is coaxial with the main center rod, and an inner hole of the push handle has a diameter larger than that of the main center rod. Where the skeleton is to be used, the push handle is pushed upwardly until the push handle is surroundingly coupled with the main center rod, and the interior angle formed by the main center rod and the sub-supporting rod, in the triangle formed by the main supporting rod, the main center rod and the sub-supporting rod, is an obtuse angle. With the skeleton, the distance between the upper fixing member and the push handle is shortened, thereby the space occupied by the skeleton is reduced, space of the skeleton that can be used is increased, and the utility is improved. An umbrella and a canopy having the above skeleton and the same advantages are further disclosed.

36 Umbrella assembly with tilt adjustments EP05251087.2 2005-02-24 EP1568293A1 2005-08-31 Oliver Joen-An Ma

An umbrella or sunshade (100) is provided that includes a support pole assembly and a tilt assembly (126). The support pole assembly includes a first support pole (102) and a second support pole (116) The second support pole has a proximal end and a distal end and is curved therebetween. The second support pole is coupled with and extends generally transverse to the first support pole. The tilt assembly includes a transmission (136) and a drive shaft. The drive shaft is housed in the second support pole (116). The drive shaft has a first end coupled with the transmission (136) and a second end adjacent to the distal end of the second support pole. The transmission (136) is configured to convert rotation of a crank handle (134) into rotation of the drive shaft to pivot a canopy (108) coupled with the distal end of the second support pole relative to the first support pole.

39 TILTING UMBRELLA EP03743437.0 2003-03-06 EP1484995A1 2004-12-15 VARDY, Daniel; BLY, Michael Harold
An umbrella frame has a two-part shaft, having a lower portion (10), upon which a runner (12) is slidably mounted, and an upper portion (14). When assembled the upper portion (14) of the shaft is mounted on the lower portion (10) of the shaft by means which allow it to tilt with respect to the lower portion, when the runner is rotated after having opened the umbrella frame. With the frame in the open position the runner engages with a rotating element (34) having a helical thread (36). The thread engages with teeth (30) on a gear element (28) attached to the upper portion of the shaft. Rotation of the rotating element causes the teeth to ride in the thread, which causes the upper portion to tilt. This makes it possible for a user to tilt the umbrella simply by rotating the runner.
