An apparatus for feeding a wrapping web (201-204) to a wrapping station (204), where a product (2010) is to be wrapped with the wrapping web, includes a backstand (221-224) for holding a supply roll of the wrapping web and for unwinding and rewinding the wrapping web. The wrapping web falls under gravity on a conveyor which transports the wrapping web to the wrapping station without using bend rollers. The unwinding or rewinding speed of the backstand is controllably adjustable. An unused length of the wrapping web after wrapping is rewound onto the supply roll, leaving a portion dangling loosely from the supply roll and above the conveyor. Thus, the wrapping web can be automatically fed on demand to the wrapping station without human intervention and without the need of pre-feeding the wrapping web into the wrapping station. |

A sheet interleaver is provided for a slicing machine that includes a slicing plane for slicing an elongated food product and a sheet of web material beneath the elongated product. The interleaver includes a supply of web material, a drawing station, and a feed station. A tensioning station is disposed between the supply of web material and the drawing station to maintain the tension of the web material at a pre-determined tension. A web accumulation station is between the drawing station and the feed station to provide a slackened length of web material within an acceptable range of slack between the drawing station and the feed station. The supply of web material is disposed on a spool which rotates about a cylindrical shaft. The cylindrical shaft has a braking mechanism which protrudes from the shaft to generate a frictional force against the spool. |

The present invention relates to a continuous, horizontal process for making water-reactive pouches, involving the steps of: a) continuously feeding a first water-soluble film onto a horizontal portion of a continuously and rotatably moving endless surface, which comprises a plurality of moulds; b) forming from the film on the horizontal portion of the continuously moving surface, and in the moulds on the surface, a continuously moving, horizontally positioned web of open pouches; c) filling the continuously moving, horizontally positioned web of open pouches with a product; d) closing the web of open pouches; e) preferably sealing the closed pouches; whereby step d) and preferably step e) is also done in a continuous manner, preferably while the web of pouches is in horizontal position and continuously moving. The products introduced in the pouch are preferably cleaning compositions or fabric care compositions, in particular laundry or dish washing compositions. |

A rotary knife assembly includes a rotatable core and a plurality of knife blades extending from the rotatable core. A healing element is coupled with the plurality of knife blades, and the heating element is configured to heat the knife blades. One or more package guides are interposed between each of the plurality of knife blades configured to engage along one or more deformable packages as the rotatable core is rotated. In another example, a discharge assembly includes a conveyor belt including inner and outer belt surfaces, and a plurality of belt rows extending along a belt length. A plurality of package spacing ridges each include outer engaging edges, and one package spacing ridge of the plurality is positioned between each of the plurality of belt rows. The outer belt surface is recessed from the outer engaging edges. |

Certain implementations provide a form-fill-seal machine that can efficiently seal a packaging material. The transverse sealing unit may have first members to sandwich the packaging material and sealing the packaging material in a transverse direction, and second members for squeezing the packaging material while sandwiching the packaging material with a prescribed gap left therebetween. The control unit may cause the packaging material to be squeezed by the second members by causing the transverse sealing unit located at a reference position to descend faster than the packaging material being conveyed downward. The control unit may cause the transverse sealing unit to ascend while the packaging material is being sealed by the first members. The control unit may cause the transverse sealing unit to move such that the first members are separated from the packaging material. |
