Garments having gripping mechanisms integrated therein, gripping mechanisms, and methods of use thereof are disclosed. In one example, the garment is a motorcycle vest or motorcycle jacket that includes one or more handgrip pockets integrated therein. In yet another example, the garment is a motorcycle vest or motorcycle jacket that includes a harness and one or more handgrips integrated therein. In one example, each of the handgrips includes a baseplate, a collapsible handle, and a padded grip.

This disclosure pertains to a novel motorcycle jacket used to improve safety during motorcycle rides. A novel motorcycle jacket may include one or more handles, disposed in one more orientations, thereon. The novel motorcycle jacket facilitates ease of grip with the handles which provide safety for motorcycle passengers. The novel motorcycle jacket may comprise a plurality of handles, a coupling means that attaches the plurality of handles to the body of a jacket. The motorcycle jacket may comprise a flexible material to facilitate lateral forces to apply thereon.

A system which consists of bands, assembled and anchored to a flap which is inserted to the side seam of a garment of a motorcycle or Jet Ski driver, the bands as strong as the seat belt are elongated sewn down along the back of the to the sides. The bands are part and parcel of the handholds threading through and securely fixed at the torso area of the driver. The parallel bands are secured in such a manner that forces pulling back on the handles do not go through the buckle, zipper, or other fasteners for the belts. Previous safety gear has been developed to secure passengers to the drivers but that gear is susceptible to failure because when passengers pull back, the loads go through fasteners, which can fail because they are improperly secured and not strong enough to withstand passengers “hanging on for dear life” during extreme accelerations. This System secures passengers by containing forces pulling back on the handholds within a rugged and permanently closed portion of the center front band. In the preferred embodiment the forces pulling back on the handholds are contained within a loop centered at front of the drivers vest. The positioning of the handles is natural and balanced. Users of this system will include all tandem riders.

The inventive concept is directed to hand-hold system applied to a driver of a conveyance device wherein the driver and the rider are moving on said device in a tandem fashion. Said hand-hold system includes a belt wherein the hand-holds are attached to the belt in several locations wherein at least two hand-holds are applied to a rear of the belt. Two more hand-holds each are applied to both sides of the driver. The hand-hold system can include a harness having shoulder straps passing over the shoulders of the driver. The hand-hold system may include a personal flotation device with the hand- holds being applied to the sides and the back of the flotation device. This arrangement assures that the driver is free of a personal contact with the rider and can perform the necessary functions in operating the functions of the conveyance.
