The present invention relates to a board 1 suitable for use in descending a snow slope. The board 1 has a generally flat elongate base 15, a forward portion 2 with an upturned leading edge portion 12, a user support portion 4 and a rearward portion 3 comprising at least partly independently movable left and right support portions 18, 19 extending generally alongside each other rearwardly from said forward portion 2. The base 15 has outer side edges 7, 8 of generally angular cross-sectional shape for biting into the surface of a snow slope during turning in use of the board 1. The side edges are furthermore concavely arcuate, in plan view, so that the board 1 is substantially waisted intermediate its ends 12 and 14 so that the board can proceed along an arcuate path when one of its side edges 8 is weighted and the other 7 unweighted. |

The textile piste is made substantially from at least one sliding surface segment comprising a flat woven fabric. The flat woven fabric includes warp threads and weft threads and in one fabric direction has floating and non-floating warp threads.
70 | EVACUATION SLED AND TEMPORARY SURGE CAPACITY BED | EP07784342.3 | 2007-06-06 | EP2057057B1 | 2011-10-26 | WALKINGSHAW, Nathan R.; OSTROWSKI, Steven B. |
A lightweight, strong, sturdy, and versatile evacuation sled is disclosed. The body of the sled may be manufactured from a single piece of material, stored flat, and folded into its functioning configuration. When folded, the sled has one or more straps that help hold it in its folded configuration and allow maneuvering or carrying the sled. The sled may be readily towed with a towing harness and may be moved down an incline, such as stairs, by means of a rope and belay device. The sled has a low coefficient of friction and is lightweight, allowing the sled to be readily moved and handled without requiring the assistance of multiple people. Additional sleds with foam inserts may be provided to carry equipment such as for life support. The sled may also provide surge capacity for facilities like hospitals, as the sled is designed to be inexpensive and essentially disposable.

A device for use in activity on snow-covered surfaces, water or also on another surface, comprises a bottom board (1) for contact with the surface, equipped with longitudinal steering ribs on the underside and with upwardly curved faces at the front edge and preferably also at the rear edge, and a top board (2) that is adapted to the user and his position of use by the formation of well-like depressions along the side areas for the user's legs and having an air bag (3) for support of the user. The bottom board (1) and the top board (2) are joined together along their edges and define a hollow space between them. An airtight bag (3) that projects above the top board (2) is located in the central area of the device. The bottom board (1) has a longitudinally flat or slightly concavely curved central portion (10) which extends from the curved front portion to the rear portion of the board, and with side faces (11) on each side that are higher than the central portion and the surface for the board. The central portion has at least one, preferably two, central steering grooves (12) that extend along the whole length of the central portion, preferably with steering ribs (13A) at the edge area on each side, which are shorter than the groove (the grooves) in the central area and are flattened towards the forward and rear end areas of the central portion. The side faces are flat, but inclined slightly upwards towards a substantially curved face part which forms the transition to the top board. The side faces on each side in the area of the substantially curved face part are equipped with a steering runner (14) projecting at an angle from the side face. The front of the device is equipped with fastening means for a towing line.
