PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wig designed so as to prevent the base front part of an artificial-skin wig from curling up due to repetitive use. SOLUTION: The wig 10 includes a wig base 11 and hair material 12 implanted in the wig base. The wig base 11 is structured so that a front part 11a set to the top part of the head of a wearer from an imagination hairline of wearer's front forehead is partitioned into an artificial skin part 110a and a net mold 11b joined with the artificial skin part; the artificial skin part is made of synthetic resin coat integrated with a shape retaining net; a front edge area 111 having a prescribed width and a back area 112 linked to the front edge area are formed toward the inside from a front edge 11a' positioning at the imagination hairline of the wearer, and the front edge area 111 is bent more steeply than the corresponding contour of the head part of the wearer to present a curved edge line so as to have an arc-state curling-up-preventive structure. This invention relates to a wig having a shape retaining member for preventing curving-up and distortion of a wig base. This shape retaining member (12) is made of a shape memory alloy having a transformation temperature (Af point) higher than the temperature of an ambient between the surface of the head of the user of the wig and the wig base when the wig (10) is fitted to the head, and is disposed at a predetermined position on the inner or outer surface of the wig base (11). When the shape retaining member gets corrugated in the course of use, it is heated to a temperature higher than the transformation temperature so that it regains the shape that is stored in advance. Therefore, the wig can be repeatedly fitted as if it were a new one.

A wig base which is in strict agreement with the shape of the head of a person who wears it and which is not deformed even after used for many years, and a method of producing the same. To produce the wig base, a net member which constitutes the whole or part of the wig base is brought into substantial agreement with the shape of the head of a person who wears it, resin is applied onto the filaments forming the net and onto the intersecting points and peripheries thereof to temporarily mold the wig base, followed by adhesion of the intersection points of the filaments by welding.

Herein disclosed is a wig structure which comprises a generally cap-shaped wig base (1) having rubber bands (3) at its two sides. These rubber bands (3) are disposed in a stability area on the periphery of the head of a wig wearer. The wig base (1) extends downward from the rubber bands (3). Thus, the wig structure can provide a stable fit even when the wig wearer moves his head.
