A recording device includes: a housing having an opening; an opening/closing cover that can be disposed in a closed position where the opening is covered, and an open position where the opening is exposed; a medium holder that holds a medium; a recorder that performs recording on a medium; and a transport mechanism that transports the medium from the medium holder toward the recorder along a transport path, in which the medium holder is provided with, a feed port for the medium, connected to the transport path and an alarm unit that warns that the medium is disposed at a position where the medium can be transported by the transport mechanism, and when the opening/closing cover is disposed in the open position, the feed port and the alarm unit can be visually checked.
22 Ink-jet printer US12404997 2009-03-16 US08500229B2 2013-08-06 Narumi Kawai; Yoshitsugu Morita; Shingo Hattori; Hiroto Sugahara
An ink-jet printer performs the ordinary jetting operation in which the printing is performed on a printing area of the recording paper while transporting the recording paper frontwardly by transport rollers and the marking jetting operation in which a marking is formed at an edge portion of the recording paper. A control unit of the ink-jet printer allows nozzles to jet liquid droplets therefrom in the marking jetting operation, the liquid droplets having larger volumes as compared with those jetted in the ordinary jetting operation. Therefore, in the marking jetting operation, a larger amount of the ink liquid droplets can be permeated in the thickness direction of the recording paper as compared with the ordinary jetting operation. Accordingly, the marking, which can be easily confirmed from the side of the printing medium, is formed.

The present invention features a photosensing mechanism for a receipt-printing machine which senses a low condition of a paper supply roll housed within a bucket of the receipt-printing machine. The paper-supply roll has a "floating" characteristic; that is, no fixed rotational mounts align the roll within its feed bucket. The photosensing mechanism adjusts to different supply-roll positions within the feed bucket, the different positions of which result from different mounting orientations of the receipt-printing machine.

33 Reference area usable with a form for correction of form misaligment in a printer EP90313980.6 1990-12-20 EP0438899A1 1991-07-31 Ericson, Richard E., c/o Minnesota Mining and

A reference area 14 usable with a rectangular form 10 when the form is used with a computer controlled printer. The reference area 14 having a pattern 16,18 and a reference point 20. The pattern 16,18 allowing the location of a mark printed by the printer on the pattern to be readily identified on an equivalent reference area 24 displayed on a display monitor 23 for the computer. The reference point 20 is positioned so it will receive a reference mark when printed on the reference area 14 by the printer provided the form 10 is not misaligned in the printer. A reference mark received at the reference area 14 provides information relative to the reference point 20 that is a measure of the amount of vertical and horizontal misalignment of the form 10 in the printer.

This information, when placed in the computer, makes it possible for the computer to correct for any misalignment before any printing is done on the form 10.

PURPOSE: To correct misalignment in the vertical or horizontal direction of a form to be completed with a computer controlled printer. CONSTITUTION: The inventive reference area 14 can be used together with a rectangular form 10 when it is used with a computer controlled printer. The reference area 14 receiving a visible mark being printed thereon by the printer is provided with a pattern having a reference point 20 which identifies relative position of a mark located in the pattern easily on a different reference area corresponding to the reference area 14. 36 Platen JP32431488 1988-12-22 JPH02169274A 1990-06-29 NISHIKAWA TORU
PURPOSE:To provide a platen capable of setting a printing starting position to be the same each time by providing the surface of a platen with graduation. CONSTITUTION:A platen 1 has a surface provided with graduation in a cross- ruled form. At the time of setting a paper 20, the paper 20 is first placed on a sheet guide 21, and is wrapped around the platen 1 by turning a platen knob 23. The platen knob 23 is turned further, thereby setting the paper 20 to a desired printing position. In this case, the length from the top end of the paper 20 to a printing head 25 can be verified by checking the graduation on the platen 1. Similarly, the length from the left end of the paper 20 to the head 25 can also be verified. At the time of setting the paper 20, therefore, a printing starting position can be verified.
37 Manual insertion paper supplying device for business machine JP6255283 1983-04-08 JPS59187881A 1984-10-25 NAKADE KENICHI
PURPOSE:To enhance operability in inserting a paper and prevent an inserted paper from falling forward, by a method wherein a guide member having both a function for preventing a paper from falling forward and a function as a scale is provided on the operator's side of a manual insertion paper inserting base. CONSTITUTION:The guide member 12 is provided on the operator's side of the manual insertion paper inserting base 10 which is provided at a paper-inserting port of a main body 15 of a printer. The guide member 12 functions also as a scale plate which provides size indications 14 at the time of inserting the paper. It is preferable to set the condition of the inserting base 10 so that the paper can be fed to a feeding part 18 for a platen 17 under its own gravity.
38 Digit indicating platen for printer JP6214581 1981-04-24 JPS57176186A 1982-10-29 KONNO YUKIO
PURPOSE:To attain a platen capable of setting printing positions accurately by an arrangement wherein axial positions of printing digits on the platen are indicated in the axial direction. CONSTITUTION:A core member 31 of a platen 3 is formed of a hard metal tube. Digit numbers 32 are indicated on the outer surface of the core member 31 in the axial direction, while a circumferential indication line 33 is drawn intermittently in accordance with each digit number. The outer surface of the core member 31 is covered with a coating layer 34 such as a transparent urethane protective film for the purpose of improving impact-resistance and printing quality. The platen 3 is rotated through shifting along with printing on paper. Thus, in order that digit numbers can be noticed at any position and judged promptly and easily, positions of 0 and 10 digit numbers 35, 36 are made different from those of 1 digit numbers 37. 0 and 10 digit numbers are indicated circumferentially at 2-3 or more positions, while 1 digit numbers are at 3-4 or more positions. Further, the circumferentially divided indication lines 33 corresponding to 0, 5 and 10 digits are of thick lines 38 and the lines 33 corresponding to 1 digits are of narrow lines 39, thus assisting prompt judgement.

PURPOSE:To provide a printer which eliminates misrecognition of a digit position with a simple construction by winding a flexible sheet forming a plurality of scale trains thereon to expose the desired scale train at an indication window. CONSTITUTION:A flexible scale 11 on which a plurality of scale trains 11a, 11b... are formed to indicate the digit position of a printing head is formed on the surface of a flexible sheet wound at both ends with winding shafts 12 and 13. The flexible scale 11 is wound on the winding shaft 12 or 13 by turning and adjusting knobs 14 and 15 to expose the desired scale train, for example, 11b at an indication window 10. An indicator 16 is so arranged between the indication window 10 and the scale train as to move horizontally synchronizing the print head 7 fixed on a carriage 6. It indicates at what digit the print head 7 is located in cooperation with the scale train.
