23 Device for forming pouches, bags and the like EP00102690.5 2000-02-09 EP1027984A3 2001-11-07 Idelbo, Tardelli

A device for forming pouches, bags and the like, comprises a frame (2) with a rod (4) for supporting rolls (5) of tubular ribbon (6) suitable for the hygienic storage of medical instruments and with a casing (8) which is arranged at right angles to the direction of feed of the ribbon (6) and is adapted to accommodate a cutting means (9) and a heat-sealing means (10). The device also comprises a reciprocating means which acts both on the cutting means and on the heat-sealing means and is accommodated in the casing (8). The invention overcomes the drawbacks of conventional devices because a single and simple movement of the reciprocating means allows to form a pouch and at the same time separate it from the rest of the ribbon.

33 APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DETERMINING WHETHER AN ENVELOPE IS IN OR OUT OF SPECIFICATION US11760999 2007-06-11 US20080301964A1 2008-12-11 Paul G. Jordan; Kristen Matthew Getty; Warren Safran; Ryan Carl Weiss; John Schlich; Robert Elliot; Patrick Brown
A measuring gauge constructed of a transparent “L” shaped body having an elongated first arm and a second shorter arm disposed at 90 degrees to the first arm and defining a notch therein which forms a triangle with the first leg of the triangle angularly disposed with respect to the outer edge of the second arm. A plurality of indicia are carried by the two legs of the gauge. The indicia each include a center band sandwiched between outer bands with the inner and outer bands being of contrasting colors. The side edges of the gauge are inserted between the flaps and back panels of the envelope into engagement with a gum line and a depth of penetration is observed by determining the intersection of an edge of the envelope with the indicium along a side edge of the gauge thereby determining whether or not the envelope is in or out of specification.
34 Paper based product and method of making same US11429977 2006-05-09 US20060237119A1 2006-10-26 Shirley Rosel
Method for making rolled paper material comprising the steps of dividing a sheet of paper into portions, rolling each portion of paper about a piece of broomstick, removing the piece of broomstick from the rolled portion, and gluing the rolled portion to preventing it from unrolling. 35 Universal box maker US09811005 2001-03-16 US20020132715A1 2002-09-19 Martin R. Carbone
A universal boxmaker with a rectangular flat plate with apertures formed thereon, and a guide rail. The flat plate has a top surface, a front edge, a rear edge, two side edges, and a plurality of spaced apart apertures having a predetermined size. The apertures are formed in the top surface of the flat plate and spaced apart by uniform increments from each other. The guide rail has a bottom surface, a front wall, a rear wall, and a protrusion extending from the bottom surface. The protrusion is sized to detachably engage in the apertures formed in the flat plate. To accommodate the making of telescoping boxes, the distance between a centerline of the protrusion and the front wall, and the centerline of the protrusion and the rear wall are different.
36 Box making device and method for using US880759 1997-06-23 US5855543A 1999-01-05 Martin R. Carbone
A kit for making boxes from paper card stock. The kit has a flat plate with a guide rail with a vertical edge projecting above the surface of the plate parallel to one edge of the plate. A scoring groove traverses the plate parallel to the vertical edge of the guide rail. One or more spacing strips, each having a vertical edge, may be placed between the vertical edge of the guide rail and the scoring groove to vary the depth of the box. The overall size or "footprint" of a box made in accordance with the invention is determined by the distance of the scoring groove from the nearest vertical edge and the size of the blank card stock employed. Two identical sized card stocks are used for each box. A slightly wider spacing strip is used to form the top than the spacing strip used to form the bottom of the box. This also makes the depth of the box bottom slightly greater than the box top. The kit includes a scoring plate, two sets of spacing strips and a scoring tool, and is used to fashion boxes in a variety of shapes and sizes. In another embodiment of the kit the scoring plate has guide rails and score lines on both sides, wherein the guide rail on one side is spaced slightly further away from the score line than on the other side to make the box bottom slightly smaller in size than the box top.

The center piece is then used as a guide to fold the paper into an envelope, and adhesive is applied to secure the folded parts of the paper in an envelope shape.
39 Bag forming apparatus US781778 1977-03-28 US4093500A 1978-06-06 Thomas J. Browne
A portable unit useful as a household appliance for making plastic bags from multi-layered plastic films. The unit comprises a housing which includes a compartment for a roll of multi-layered plastic film, a lid for the housing which, when closed, defines an elongated slot with the housing for the withdrawal of the plastic film and a hinge means between the lid and the housing for closing and opening the lid. A wire element is mounted on the upper front edge of the housing and an electric circuit, including a switch, in said housing is used to energize said wire when the lid is firmly closed. A first insulating strip overlies the wire and a second insulating strip in the lid is adapted to firmly overlie said first insulating strip. The lid also includes a channel and a cutting means slidably mounted in said channel for severing the plastic bags, and a post for actuating the switch when the lid is closed.
40 Home bag sealer US711098 1976-08-02 US4025383A 1977-05-24 Albert R. Ferrigno
Apparatus for forming bags of desired length from flattened plastic tubular stock material and subsequently sealing them at the open end thereof. The apparatus includes housing means having supporting means within the housing means for rotatably mounting a supply roll of the flattened stock material, with guide means in vertically spaced relationship to the supporting means cooperating with advancing means including a pair of rollers for engagement with the stock within the housing means in vertically spaced apart relationship to said guide means. Base means and heat sealing means form a pair of transversely extending seals. Dual cutting means cuts the bag to any desired length and a vertical slot between the seams is formed as a pouch for inserting a label to identify the contents. The apparatus also includes means to seal the open end of the bag with the contents therein.
