95 DEVICE AND METHOD FOR COMMUNICATION BETWEEN A CONTROL SYSTEM FOR SMALL INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES AND AN EXTERNAL COMPUTER EP06717128.0 2006-03-28 EP1875060A1 2008-01-09 OLSSON, Johan
By incorporating digital control systems for ignition of, and to some extent for fuel injection in, small internal combustion engines, opportunities have been created for the connection of external computers, in order thereby to be able to change the characteristics of the control system, as well as to be able to read operational data from the same. The operational data may be e.g. operating time and trip meter. The method according to the invention means that a combined communication port and stop entry is created, which will result in a cost-effective implementation of the communication interface when a stop entry with an associated transient protection already exists.

97 Chain saw tension adjuster EP02445085.0 2002-06-26 EP1281489A2 2003-02-05 Franke, Jeff; Warfel, Paul; Tynes, Rodney

An arrangement that provides a semi-automatic tension adjustment of an endless cutting chain (13) on a guide bar of a chain saw as the links of the chain wear with use. A specially designed cam (40) biases a tensioner pin (21) to continuously force the guide bar (14) away from a drive sprocket (12) on the engine chassis to tension the chain. A knob (52) on a clutch cover assembly attached to the engine chassis can be tightened to force two high friction surfaces (25,27) together to lock the guide bar in a tensioned position, or loosed to release the guide bar to seek a proper tensioned position. An override lever (48) on the face of the clutch cover assembly moves in a channel with peripheral nomenclature (55,57), that indicates when the cutting chain should be replaced. The entire arrangement is self-contained and does not require any tools to function.

98 MUFFLER EP96903318.0 1996-02-14 EP0832347A1 1998-04-01 KARLSSON, Egon; LUDVIGSSON, Kent; STARK, Stefan
Muffler (1) for portable working tools, preferably chain saws (2), whereby the muffler is mounted directly onto the cylinder's (16) exhaust gas outlet (3). The muffler's (1) exhaust gas outlet (4) is positioned on an upper side (5) of the muffler, i.e. a side which is turned in the same direction as the cylinder's (16) upper side, and the muffler's exhaust gas outlet (4) is equipped with a deflecting device (6), for instance a bent tube, which deflects the exhaust gas flow (7), so that this leaves the muffler in a plane which is parallel to the muffler's upper side (5). The figure shows the chain saw schematically, without protective covers, guide bar and chain. Its cooling fan (19) blows cooling air (20) over the cylinder and the muffler. The positioning and the design of the exhaust gas outlet facilitate a very favorable dilution of the exhaust gases with the cooling air.
99 Base structure of a motor saw EP85850291.7 1985-09-19 EP0177469A1 1986-04-09 Rangert, Bo Ragnar; Alm, Christer Lennart

A base structure of a motor saw forms fuel and oil tanks (16,17) and a crankcase bottom in one piece. This piece is injection moulded in plastics with closed tank cavities obtained by means of cores in the mould which are made of a metal having a melting temperature lower than the softening temperature of the plastic material. After moulding the cores are melted by heat treatment and the metal runs out through filling holes (18,19) of the tanks. Armouring pieces are moulded in the plastics to reinforce the attachments of crankshaft bearings and the sword.

100 A MOTOR ASSEMBLY FOR CARRYING ON THE BACK EP83902298.0 1983-03-30 EP0105367A1 1984-04-18 ERICSSON, Carl Gustaf Folke
