A cable cutter includes two jaws mutually turnably connected together via a pivot and being provided near respective front inner ends with two opposite cutting edges; two handles being separately fixedly connected to rear ends of the two jaws with a restoring spring connected to and between the two handles; and a restorer being provided on an outer side of one of the two jaws and surrounded by a protective cup. An end of the cable cut with the cutter and become flattened may be pressed against a tip of the restorer to be restored to an original round cross section. The protective cup has an open top higher than the tip of the restorer, protecting a user's hand against accidental injury by the tip of the restorer and making the cable cutter safer for use.
242 Fruit cutter US11145990 2005-06-07 US20060272163A1 2006-12-07 Tony Hsu
A fruit cutter includes a hollow body with a ring cutter, a push ring, and rib blades. The ring cutter is provided at the bottom of the hollow body. The push ring is provided at the top of the hollow body at a certain angle in relation to the hollow body. The rib blades are formed around the outer wall of the hollow body extending upwardly from the ring cutter to the push ring. Each rib blade is formed in an arc cross-section. By pushing the push ring downwardly, the ring cutter will cut fruit to the size that can fit into the opening of a juice maker. The rib blades will cut the rest portion of the fruit again to decrease press resistance.
243 Close cut cutting instrument US10936766 2004-09-08 US20060048391A1 2006-03-09 Joseph Bellissimo
A binding cutter for severing bindings such as wire, nylon or other tightly tensioned materials is disclosed. The cutter is provided with enclosed gripping and cutting portions supported within the jaws of the cutter. The outer faces of the jaws including camming surfaces extending from jaw tips to enable easy gripping of the wire to be cut, such that when the cutter is closed in the direction of the cutting action, the wire is urged up and away from the backing board into the concavity defined by the jaws and supported for gripping by gripping portions and cutting by cutting blades into the relatively small, confined concavity. The inventive apparatus thus is readily used for snaring tightly tensioned package bindings of most any material, and the bindings supported by the internal gripping portions are supported to enable a clean, severing cut.

245 PUMPKIN CUTTING APPARATUS US10135604 2002-04-30 US20030200664A1 2003-10-30 Vicki L. Thompson; Tyler T. Harrell
A pumpkin cutting apparatus includes a tubular shaft and a cutter releasably coupled to one end thereof, the cutter having a continuous side wall capable of cutting a pumpkin and retaining the cut portion. A plunger shaft extending through the tubular shaft and slides upwardly therethrough and extends through a top opening as the cutter cuts into a pumpkin. Once a cut is complete, the plunger shaft may be pushed back down into the tubular shaft so as to eject the cut portion from the cutter. The apparatus includes an elastomeric shell for surrounding and stabilizing a pumpkin. A transparent dome defining an aperture is selectively situated atop the shell. The tubular shaft and aperture have complementary threads so that the shaft may be rotated to force the cutter into the pumpkin, the cutter being rotatably coupled to the tubular shaft so as not to rotate therewith.

247 Candle maintenance device and method US09854011 2001-05-11 US06619950B2 2003-09-16 John B. Ricci
A candle maintenance device according to the invention preferably has a body with a handle portion to grip the device. A trigger is used to engage a wick cutting element and lighting element. The wick cutting element preferably includes a cutting actuator mechanism, cutting guide and cutting device. The lighting element preferably includes a fuel cell for housing a fuel, fuel lines and an igniter source. A candlewick placed in the wick cutting element will be drawn into or forced against a cutting device such as a cutting blade. Contemporaneously with the cutting of the wick, the lighting element will release fuel from the fuel cell and ignite the fuel via the igniter source. The fuel is discharged through piping to a location in close proximity to the cutting device. An igniter source causes a spark to ignite the fuel thereby igniting the wick.

253 Tool to remove surgical instrument identification tape US862339 1997-05-23 US5864953A 1999-02-02 Kenneth R. Blake
A cutting tool is described for cutting an encircling band of identification tape from a surgical instrument handle. The tool housing has an elongated guide slot with a cutting blade mounted in the housing on a circumference of the guide slot exposed distally at a distal end of the tool. The channel slot has a circumference to accommodate surgical instrument handles having an arcuate cross-sectional segment having a radius which is equal to or less that the radius of the channel slot circumference. The cutting blade is positioned to be tangent to the surgical instrument handle operatively nested within the guide slot. The blade is also positioned to define a chord of the encircling tape band around the instrument handle nested within the guide slot. In use, the blade cuttingly engages the tape band as the tool is slid along the surgical instrument handle toward the edge of the tape band. The blade cuts a full width of the tape band, exposing a fresh margin of tape to allow complete removal.
254 Knives with slots US743218 1996-11-05 US5768787A 1998-06-23 William Alfred Ireland
A safety knife comprises a main body formed with a slot having a narrow open mouth, into which the material to be cut is inserted, and a blade mounted on the main body with a portion of its cutting edge extending across the slot at a location spaced inwardly from the mouth of the slot. The blade is mounted in a recess in the main body for sliding movement across the slot, against the action of a spring, and is coupled to a sleeve which is slidable on the main body. The user holds the knife by the sleeve so that, as the knife is used to cut material, the relative movement between the sleeve and main body causes to blade to slide across the slot, thus enhancing the cutting action.
255 Multipurpose knife with gut hook US551758 1995-11-07 US5581895A 1996-12-10 Norman C. Jeffcoat
An ergonomically-designed, multipurpose knife having a handle, a blade with a shank and a tip, and a fastener for attaching the handle to the shank. The blade has a curved outer edge extending substantially from the shank to the tip, with an integrally-formed gut hook positioned near the shank and opening toward the tip. A portion of the outer edge is sharpened to form a cutting edge. The fastener is user-operable for moving the blade from a first operating position where it opposes the handle to a second operating position where it extends forward of the handle for use as a hatchet. In the first position, force exerted on the handle and directed toward the blade is distributed approximately uniformly along the entire length of the outer cutting edge. Skinning cuts are made by grasping the handle and pivoting the wrist to produce controlled strokes approximately in the plane of the blade; chopping and slicing cuts are made by pivoting the wrist to rock the knife about an axis transverse to the plane of the blade. The user can control the length and direction of a cut by pivoting the wrist alone, the forearm at the elbow, the entire arm from the hand gripping the knife to the shoulder, or by pushing or pulling the knife with the hand and forearm, or any combination thereof. Range of motion, dexterity and control of the cutting edge are thereby improved, with greater comfort than is possible with a conventional knife.
