In a cutter that is used for bale packaging in the distribution industry, a cutter blade where a plurality of cutting lines are carved. If the cutting edge of the cutter blade becomes dull, the end of the cutter blade is broken off at the cutting line. The broken portion of the blade is considered a dangerous waste. However, solution to avoid the dangerous has not been considered. A cutter of the present invention includes a cutter blade which has a cutting edge, a pivot hole, locking notches, a gripper in which a pivot shaft is fitted into the pivot hole to perform the pivoting, a locking chamber which is formed in the gripper, a locking button having a locking protrusion which protrudes in the locking chamber, a coil spring which is disposed in the locking button, a sharpener main body which includes a diamond sharpener and a finger setting part for insertion and drawing, and a sharpener receiving chamber which is formed to receive the sharpener main body while the finger setting part for insertion and drawing is exposed. The cutting edge is made of titanium sintered material in which diamond particles having a particle size of 100 µm or less are arranged in a line. |

151 | Improved folding knife | EP06012279.3 | 2006-06-14 | EP1733854A3 | 2007-01-17 | Knight, Nathan E.; Klecker, Glenn A.; Nenadic, John P. |
A folding hand tool (8) with an open-assist mechanism (60) that is not mechanically linked to a folding knife blade (50) is disclosed. The open-assist mechanism is allowed to rotate around the same pivot (28) used by the blade, and includes a lug (64) that interacts with the kick (56) of the blade when rotated. Because the open-assist mechanism is not mechanically linked to the blade, it has a range of free motion that promotes safety, and allows the mechanism to rotate into the blade cavity when the blade is extended. The folding knife also may have a carabiner (70) that shares the blade cavity with the blade, with the blade nesting into the carabiner to save space, thereby giving the folding knife a smaller profile. |

A folding hand tool set having a one-piece, completely integral, plastic handle and a plurality of hand tools rotatably mounted thereto. The one-piece, completely integral, plastic handle is preferably constructed from a fiber reinforced thermoplastic. In one embodiment, spacers are provided for mechanically isolating the hand tools. The folding hand tool set is capable of transmitting more than 110.0 Newton meters of torque without compromising the integrity of the one-piece, completely integral plastic handle. The present invention is also directed to a one-piece, completely integral, plastic handle for receiving hand tools. The handle can withstand at least 30 Newton meters of torsional force without compromising the integrity of the handle. |

157 | CUTTER ASSEMBLY | EP95905845.0 | 1994-12-19 | EP0738201A1 | 1996-10-23 | Augustin, Georg |
A cutter assembly (10) which includes a support (11), a recess (12) in the support, a slot (13) formed within the recess for receiving a cutting blade (14) having a cutting edge (16) such that only the tip (19) of the cutting edge extends from the support. A U-shaped channel (21) adjacent to the slot defines a flexible finger (22) in engagement with the blade. A cover plate (26) shaped to fit within the recess retains the blade within the slot. The cover plate has a pin (25) projecting therefrom which is dimensioned to be received within a distal leg (23) of the U-shaped channel so as to maintain the finger in engagement with the blade and at least one projecting button (27) for engagement with the surface of the blade to retain the blade within the slot. | ||||||

160 | A knife, blade and tape measure | EP89310653.4 | 1989-10-17 | EP0365280A1 | 1990-04-25 | Keil, Frederick John |
A blade (41) for a knife (40) has a slot (42,43) for receiving the hooked part (44,45,46) of the free end of a tape measure. Preferably, the blade (41) has two slots (42,43). A tape measure is correspondingly adapted by having a double hook end part (44,45,46). By this means, a workman can insert the end part of the tape measure in the slot or slots so that a plaster board or the like can be cut to a desired width more easily. In addition, a handle (51) for a knife of the type having a replaceable blade (53,100) comprises a mounting portion to hold the blade in the handle. A reinforcing portion (52) extends from the mounting portion so as to lie at least partially over the top of the blade (53,100). The reinforcing portion (52) has a recess (59) into which at least part of the top of the blade locates in use. |
