3 CUTTING EDGE ADJUSTMENT DEVICE, ROTARY MEMBER APPLIED TO SAME, AND TOOL BODY, CARTRIDGE, AND CUTTING INSERT HAVING STRUCTURES SUITABLE FOR THE DEVICE US14419426 2013-08-06 US20150217384A1 2015-08-06 Ryuichi Saji
A cutting edge adjustment device for a cutting tool for adjusting the position of a cutting edge of a cutting insert by causing movement of the cutting insert includes a rotary member for producing the movement. The rotary member is formed into a shape in which a substantially cylindrical portion having a constant radius and a cam portion having a cam face whose radius is gradually increased in a manner corresponding to the amount of the movement are arranged in a direction of a rotational center axis. The cam face is formed in such a manner as to have a section in which a radius is linearly increased, and consequently, the unit rotational angle of the rotary member on the rotational center axis is proportional to the unit movement amount of the cutting insert.
4 CUTTING INSERT CARRIER US13444075 2012-04-11 US20120263547A1 2012-10-18 Uwe Hobohm
The cutting insert carrier, in particular for a face milling cutter (2) comprises a tool basic body (4), having a multiplicity of insert seats (5), in which cutting inserts (6) are received. Rotatably fastened to the tool basic body (4) is a setting element, which is realized, in particular, as a curved ring (8) and which has circumferential cams (10), by means of which the clamping levers (12) are actuated for the purpose of fastening the cutting inserts (6) in a locking manner. The setting element (8) enables all clamping levers (12) to be actuated jointly, at the same time, such that all cutting inserts (6) are simultaneously released or locked in their insert seats (5). As a result, the assembly and setup time for insert changing is reduced significantly in comparison with conventional systems.
5 MILLING CUTTER WITH CAM PIN AND CUTTING INSERT THEREFOR US12169051 2008-07-08 US20100008735A1 2010-01-14 Ronald L. Dudzinsky; Thomas J. Long, II; Shawn E. Frye
A milling cutter includes a shank having an insert pocket and a cam pin hole. The insert pocket includes a bottom surface, a radial seating surface and an axial seating surface. A cutting insert is mounted in the insert pocket. The cutting insert includes a blind hole extending from a bottom surface. A cam pin is rotatably mounted in the cam pin hole. One end of the cam pin includes a raised boss received in the blind hole of the cutting insert. A center axis of the raised boss is offset from a center axis of the cam pin such that rotation of the cam pin causes the raised boss to exert pressure against the blind hole of the cutting insert, thereby causing one of the side walls of the cutting insert to be forced against the radial seating surface of the insert pocket.
6 Tool for adjusting diameter of cutting edge JP3006380 1980-03-10 JPS56126504A 1981-10-03 HOZUMI YUTAKA
PURPOSE:To facilitate the adjustment of the position of a cutting tip, in a tool for adjusting the cutting edge of a boring cutter or the like, by arranging a gear mechanism and an adjusting plate provided with a cam mechanism, taking into account a certain prescribed relationship between them. CONSTITUTION:The pinion 9 of a gear mechanism is turned to rotate an adjusting plate 5 which has a peripheral gear portion 8 engaged with the pinion 9. Projections 7 of cartridges 3 located in contact with the eccentric arc-shaped surfaces 6 of the adjusting plate 5 are moved up and down by the rotation of the plate 5 to steplessly adjust the position of the cartridges 3 which carry cutting tips 4. After the adjustment, the adjusting plate 5 is secured on a main body 1 with a lockup bolt 12.
