243,213. Hansen, H. C. March 11, 1925. Twisting wires together.-In making slat and wire fabrics by binding together wooden staves and support wires by wires looped over the staves and coiled round the support wires, the binding wires of which are carried on reels on hollow shafts provided with guides and rotated intermittently by a motor, a hooked lever, which is pressed by a spring into contact with a cam rotated by the motor, is provided so as in one position to tension and hold the binding wire round the stave immediately before and during coiling and in the other position to control the feed of the fabric. Support wires 28 are passed from drums 3 through parallel hollow shafts 2, then over guide rollers 4 and are secured to a drum provided with a ratchet wheel and stop pawl and intermittently rotated with the assistance of a weighted lever. The hollow shafts are connected together by gearing and are rotated by a mutilated wheel 10 driven by an electric or other motor. On the shafts are mounted carriers for reels 7 of binding wire 29 and guides 5 provided with holes 6. The binding wire round the staves 27 is tensioned and held during coiling by the notched end 25 of a lever 21 operated by a cam 24 against the action of a spring 23. The other end of the lever has a hook 26 to limit the feed of the fabric. | ||||||
