Process for loosening the lower and upper regions of the soil for applying fertilisers, as well as for loosening the underground layer of the soil and/or for working the upper layer of the soil, and for applying other additives using digging tools (2, 2', 2'') to break up the soil. The digging edge of the digging tool (2, 2',2'') moves in an ellipse overlying a rectilinear movement, i.e. the direction of motion. The resulting movement of the digging edge is therefore a cycloid. The longest axis of the ellipse goes from the surface of the soil into the soil and is inclined in relation to the direction of motion. The additive, for example a fertilizer, can be blown into the crevice which is formed behind the tool (2).

Process for direct drilling heavy or compacted soil comprising first killing the weeds and thereafter drilling into substantially undisturbed soil; wherein the porosity of the soil is improved before drilling by making a series of adjacent substantially parallel diagnonal cuts therethrough to fissure the body of the soil without substantial disturbance of the surface. Also claims a blade for carrying out such fissuring with a hinged extension on the trailing edge set at an adjustable angle to increase the soil fissuring as required according to soil type. Crumble rollers may be located between adjacent blades to provide impact blows or pressure upon the temporarily raised soil lifted up by the soil-fissuring blades. Alternatively angled cutting knives on rotating shafts may follow the fissuring blades.

A slitting or tenching tool (10) is described comprising a blade (10) adapted to be lowered vertically into the soil and pulled therethrough so as to define a slit or trench having a depth determined by the mean depth to which the blade (10) penetrates the soil, in which a vibrator causes the blade (10) to vibrate at least in a generally up and down manner at the same time as it is moved in a forward direction. A second blade (18) may be provided which is oscillated in a backwards and forwards manner. The second blade (18) includes wings (20, 22) at its lower end to form a horizontal slit which communicates with the vertical trench or slit formed by the first blade. The second blade (18) may be hollow so that finely divided particulate material may be dispensed therethrough into the trench for backfilling. A pipe or cable dispensing leg (32) may be associated with the blades (10, 18) or situated between them. A tape may be fed into the horizontal slit formed by the second blade (18). Backfilling may be performed both above and below the horizontal slit which contains the tape. Methods of subsoiling cable and pipe laying with and without marking tape are described.
56 IMPROVED EQUIPMENT OF A MOUNTED TYPE, DESIGNED TO CARRY OUT TILLING AGAINST DESERTIFICATION OF THE LAND PCT/IT2012000045 2012-02-13 WO2012107945A8 2012-11-15 VALLERANI VENANZIO; CHECCAGLINI FRANCESCO

59 DIGGING POINT ASSEMBLY EP10774418.7 2010-05-12 EP2430246A1 2012-03-21 YEOMANS, Allan James
A digging point assembly (10) for use in earthworking which comprises a main body (11) which includes a socket member (19) defining a hollow socket for engagement with a leading tip of a tyne and first and second replaceable wear parts (12,13) which are mounted to the main body (11) to protect the leading end and top of the socket member (19) which are normally exposed to wear in movement through soil, the first wear part (12) being maintained in an operative position at the leading end of the socket by the tyne and cooperating with the second wear part (13) to maintain the second wear part (13) in operative position protecting the top of the socket member (19). The digging point assembly (10) may also include a third replaceable wear part at the leading end of the body (11) which is held in position by cooperation with the first replaceable wear part (12).
60 RIPPER ASSEMBLY WITH PITCH CONTROL AND INTEGRAL FRAME AND PUSH BLOCK EP91907968.1 1991-02-04 EP0478749B1 1996-03-20 STEPE, Visvaldis, A.; AKINS, Chris, E.
When a ripper assembly incorporates an adjustable pitch control and has a push block, the visibility of the ripper tip by the operator is many times limited or totally lost. In this subject arrangement, a push block (52) is integral with a frame assembly (14) and a ripper carriage assembly (16) is pivotally secured to the frame assembly (14). By the push block (52) being integral with the frame assembly (14), the ripper carriage assembly (16) is simple and compact allowing better visibility by the operator to the rear of the ripper assembly (10). Furthermore, a sight opening (46) is defined in the frame assembly (14) immediately in front of the ripper carriage assembly (16) so that the operator has a clear visibility of the area around the ripper shank (70) and/or the ripper tip (72) when the ripper tip is not engaged in the ground. The better visibility to the rear of the ripper assembly (10) is enhanced by having first and second pitch control cylinders (98, 100) universally secured to the ripper carriage assembly (16) generally adjacent thereto.
