A multi-component game ball comprising (1) a generally football-shaped inner core formed of a high-resilience, polyurethane foam, (2) a generally football-shaped outer core encasing and bound to the inner core formed preferably of a soft, slow-return, polyurethane foam, (3) a thin, generally football-shaped, high-friction, grip-enhancing outer skin encasing and bound to the outer core formed preferably of a water-based, pigmented, acrylic emulsion, barrier release coating for urethane foam, and (4) a flight-enhancing, elongate tail structure extending from within the assembly (made up of the inner and outer cores and the skin) and extending outwardly along the ball's long axis, with radially extending fin structure forming part thereof.
102 Throw-measuring football US700002 1996-08-20 US5779576A 1998-07-14 Jay Smith, III; Kevin Hudson; Bill Hudson
The invention discloses an amusement projectile characterized in a first embodiment by a football shape which is thrown by a user and which comprises electronics therein to measure and display the distance traveled by the thrown ball to the point of impact with the ground or to another user. Using an accelerometer in cooperation with a microprocessing board disposed within the ball, the distance traveled is determined by measuring the initial velocity and the time recorded during the flight of the ball based upon changes in the acceleration of the ball, and an inset liquid crystal display screen mounted on the football is used to display the distance as well as time of flight and a nondimensional thrust value. A toggle button is used to alternately display the "flight characteristics," which are distinguished by the position of a decimal in the three digit display. The toggle button also serves as an activation button which is depressed immediately prior to throwing and remains depressed until release of the ball, and which starts the timer and the accelerometer measurements upon its release. From these two measurements and data stored in a read only memory chip, the microprocessing board calculates the above identified values and causes those values to be displayed on the display screen. The invention includes an automatic shutoff characteristic which disconnects the battery after a predetermined period of inactivity.
103 Method and apparatus for teaching and improving manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination US514732 1995-08-14 US5657996A 1997-08-19 Christian J. Radgowski; Christopher G. Hyman
A method and apparatus for teaching and improving manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination, includes a generally rectangular solid object which is adapted to be flipped or tossed into the air and caught using solely the back of one hand, or the backs of the immediately adjacent finger segments. The object is relatively small and light, with at least slightly rounded corners, to preclude injury to the bony and unpadded back(s) of a person's hand and/or fingers. The object may include markings, instructions, and/or luminescence thereon, if desired. The method generally comprises moving the back of the hand and/or fingers to manipulate the object thereon. The object may be tossed into the air, using either the fingertips or from the back of one hand or the other, and caught by the tossing person or by another in a group. Other maneuvers may be made, including arcuately moving the arm and hand to invert the hand momentarily, and manipulating the hand so as to retain the object thereon throughout the maneuver, or catching the object behind the leg, etc. Manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination is much improved for an individual who has developed the skills required to perform the above maneuvers and exercises.
104 Humanoid toy missile US673506 1996-07-01 US5649875A 1997-07-22 Donald Spector
A toy missile resembling a humanoid figure, the missile including a plastic film casing confining an inflated balloon, which causes the casing to assume a ball-like form. Printed on the front face of the casing is the head and torso of the figure. Hinged to the upper zone of the casing and extending therefrom is a first pair of plastic film pockets in each of which is entrapped a compressible filler to define the arm and hand appendages of the figure. Hinged to the lower zone of the casing and extending therefrom is a second pair of plastic film pockets in each of which is entrapped a compressible filler to define the leg and feet appendages of the figure. When a player grasps one of the appendages and then whirls the missile and lets it fly, the ball then rotates in the course of flight, causing the appendages to stretch out from the ball to stabilize the flight pattern.

A throw toy includes a pair of soft, spongy weights separated by a flat flexible and stretchy web. Upper and lower hour-glass shaped layers are fastened around their periphery around the pair of spaced apart weights to form the web and enclose the weights to complete the throw toy. A sickle-shaped throwing member can be used with the throw toy.
106 Aerial game projectile US384506 1989-07-24 US4955620A 1990-09-11 Thomas E. Reinke
An aerial game projectile useful in batting and throwing games is defined by a generally frustro conical body having closed ends and a side wall formed externally with a series of flights which extend generally longitudinally of the projectile on a portion thereof. The projectile is constructed and arranged to be thrown or launched in motion transverse to its longitudinal axis to simulate the curved flight of a ball.
107 Waistline supportable dispenser for martial arts "shurikens" throwing stars US297727 1981-08-31 US4373649A 1983-02-15 Joko Ninomiya

Disclosed herein are novel "shuriken" having elliptical central openings and having a front-face that is preferably dually recessed at the terminii of the elliptical opening minor-axis. The dispenser for such novel "shuriken" comprises: a rack member having support means to permit removable attachment as belt buckle or otherwise at waistline apparel level; a horizontal peg extending rigidly forwardly of the rack member upright frontal-side, the "shurikens" rotatably surrounding the peg trail-length; and spring means yieldably urging the leadmost "shuriken" against the peg cross-sectionally ellipsoid lead-length, whereby the "shurikens" can be individually dispensed by counter-rotation until its central opening major-axis becomes parallel to the broadest-extent of the peg lead-length.
108 Hollow water-filled game toy US928382 1978-07-27 US4212460A 1980-07-15 Donald J. Kraft
A hollow body is provided having two complementary parts releasably joined about interfitting rim portions. When the parts are joined, the hollow body may be compressed to partially deform a portion of the rim structure into an opening thereby allowing the filling of water into the body interior. After deformation the parts resume their original shape. An effective hermetic seal to retain the water within the interior is formed by squeezing the body and purging air through vents in the rim portions. The water-filled body may then be thrown against a stationary object whereby the force of impact will release the seal and allow the water to become suddenly released causing a splashing action. The complementary hollow parts may be subsequently rejoined and refilled with water to repeat the throwing and splashing action.
109 Throw and catch toy US612954 1975-09-12 US4021041A 1977-05-03 Adolph E. Goldfarb; Erwin Benkoe; Delmar K. Everitt; Ronald F. Chesley; Richard D. Frierdich
A projectile toy which may be thrown by a first player and caught by a second receiving player. The toy is designed to follow a generally horizontal stable flight path and to glide in a generally horizontal orientation, particularly through the latter portion of its flight to facilitate being caught by the receiving player. The toy includes an elongated shaft, a set of front fins mounted at the forward end of the shaft, and a set of rear fins mounted at the rear end of the shaft. Both sets of fins are circumferentially spaced around the shaft and extend outwardly therefrom. The fins are made of a readily deformable plastic material which tends to retain its deformed shape upon removal of deforming forces. The toy is of lightweight construction, particularly with reference to its weight versus fin area ratio.
