1 Golfing game including object sensing and validation US697961 1996-09-05 US5860648A 1999-01-19 Norman B. Petermeier; Matthew F. Kelly; Jayash J. Lad; Bryan M. Kelly; John G. Kroeckel
An arcade game including an object sensor for detecting a playing piece directed by a player. A target field including at least one target receives the directed playing piece, and the sensor determines the identity and a position of the playing piece. A scoring mechanism provides a game score based on a distance between the final resting position of the playing piece and one of the targets. In a described embodiment, the playing piece is a golf ball putted by the player toward a target hole. A removal mechanism removes the playing piece from the target field so that the player may retrieve the playing piece. The sensor includes a visual sensor, such as a video camera, and a digital processor for examining recorded images of the target field to validate the playing piece, determine a final position of the playing piece, and determine the distance between the playing piece and the target. Target field images can also be examined to determine and validate the trajectory of the playing piece. The sensor and digital processor also compensate for changing lighting conditions.
2 Arcade game for sensing and validating objects US408618 1995-03-22 US5553859A 1996-09-10 Bryan M. Kelly; Matthew F. Kelly; John G. Kroeckel; Joseph J. Haas; Jayash J. Lad
An arcade game including an object sensor for detecting a playing piece directed by a player. A target field receives the directed playing piece, and the sensor determines the identity and a final position of the playing piece at rest. A scoring mechanism provides a game score based on the identity and final resting position of the playing piece. Preferably, the playing piece, such as a ring or coin, engages one of multiple individual targets, such as bottles or receptacles. A return mechanism provides the playing piece to the player, and an award dispenser dispenses an award to a player based on the game score. The sensor includes a visual sensor and digital processor for validating and determining a final position of the moving playing piece by detecting visible light. The digital processor examines an image of the target field to determine and validate the identity of the playing piece, the trajectory of the playing piece, and the final position of the playing piece to determine the game score. The sensor and digital processor compensate for changing lighting conditions during game play.

An apparatus is used with throwable implements. The apparatus includes a base having a central portion and a peripheral edge. A first container is positioned on the central portion of the base. A plurality of second containers is positioned along the peripheral edge of the base and radially about the first container, wherein the plurality of second containers are smaller than the first container, and wherein an upper rim edge of the first container is positioned higher than upper rim edges of the plurality of second containers. The apparatus may be floatable and used primarily in water-based settings.

Each participant has a card printed with instructions and commands. The participant also assumes the identity of the entity listed on the card with the given authority level, and the distance from the target that participant stands to toss the coins. The loosing participants must perform a predetermined number of repetitions of a given exercise after each round.
6 Super tir-tac-poc tossing game US48238 1993-04-19 US5318307A 1994-06-07 Marcel Bouchard; Raymond Fortin
A game of skill and strategy that can be played on almost any surfaces (grass, sand, water, cement, etc.), indoors as well as outdoors. This game shows some resemblance with "tic-tac-toe". The game comprises a reception frame divided into nine squares and four groups of disks, two for each player. The squares from targets to be hit with the disks. The first set of disks is made up of at least nine disks of the same diameter, density and thickness. The second set has only three disks of a larger diameter than those of the first group. The larger size of the disks of the second set makes them harder to lodge in the target squares. This is compensated by the fact that a larger disk can remove one of the opponent's disks and take possession of the square. First, the players take turns trying to toss the small disk into the squares. After this phase, they use the larger disks to try to dislodge the opposing player's disks and gain an advantage on him.
7 Cornhole game difficulty modification US14176066 2014-02-08 US08915498B2 2014-12-23 William B. Hynds
The invention is a device that modifies the target aperture for the standard game board for the traditional lawn game known as cornhole or bean bag toss. The device, when inserted into the game board's target aperture, replaces the open hole with a circular shaped “trapdoor” that opens only when directly struck by a tossed game bag. When opened, the trapdoor allows the passage of the game bag through the game boards target aperture. The device includes a spring hinge mechanism that returns the trapdoor to the closed position after the bag has passed through the opening. The device is designed so that it can be quickly and easily inserted into and removed from the target aperture of the game board without moving or damaging the game board.
8 CORNHOLE GAME DIFFICULTY MODIFICATION US14176066 2014-02-08 US20140333026A1 2014-11-13 William B. Hynds
The invention is a game difficulty modifier for the traditional lawn game known as cornhole or bean bag toss which utilizes inserts to change the standard target aperture in the cornhole game board. The insert adapter changes the difficulty level of the game by either altering the size or nature of the game board's target aperture. The insert adapters are designed to be easily installed and removed from the game board allowing players to experience different levels of difficulty during the same game.
9 DISC THROWING GAME US11926217 2007-10-29 US20080111312A1 2008-05-15 Mark J. Longo; Paul A. Di Primo
A target comprises a pair of hinged panels with circular openings and parallel slots. The target is supported by a set of two like planar supports hinged to an edge of each panel at opposite target edges. The slots have a length of about the same dimension as the circular opening diameter in one embodiment. Openings with different diameters may be combined with slots of different lengths than those diameters. Discs known as Frisbees are thrown at the target to try to throw the discs through the slots or openings. Frisbees have a configuration wherein when thrown with a spin tend to fly toward a target in a horizontal orientation and are controllable to some degree in the direction of flight. Points are assigned. The relative dimensions of the openings and slots to the discs can vary the degree of difficulty or by orienting the panels at different angles to the disc thrower. Different embodiments are disclosed.
10 Aerial projectile target game US10989193 2004-11-15 US06994346B1 2006-02-07 Tomas L. Velasquez
A tossing game includes a projectile that is formed of two overlapping annular rings and two spaced apart stakes at which the rings are tossed. The overlapping nature of the rings defines a plurality of areas, and each area is assigned a point value. Points are awarded to the players depending on where and how the overlapping rings comes to rest with respect to the stakes.
