107 A motor vehicle having a vehicle entry system for invalids EP81301028.7 1981-03-11 EP0036293A1 1981-09-23 Hems, Colin Edward; Copsey, Ian Stephen

A vehicle entry system for invalids, comprises a platform (51) which may include a beam (52) and a carriage (53) slidable on the beam by power operated means (61,62), and means for swivellably and non-tiltably mounting the platform in a motor vehicle for movement between a loading or unloading position in which the platform projects outwardly through an adjacent door opening (50) in the vehicle and a position in which the platform is housed entirely with the vehicle. The platform also has means for releasably retaining the platform in the latter position. A wheel chair is capable of straddling the platform with its ground engageablewheens (77,78) on opposite sides of the platform. The wheel chair also has means, e.g. electrically or hydraulically operated means (76) for raising the wheels relative to the seat (72) of the wheelchair so that when the seat is mounted on the platform of the entry system, the wheels can be raised to clear the sill of the door opening when the platform is swung into the motor vehicle.

108 SELF MOVING CART FOR INVALIDS, AND METHOD FOR MANAGING SAID CART IN BUSINESS CENTRES OR OTHER SPECIFIC AREAS PCT/IT2007000671 2007-09-26 WO2008065686A3 2008-08-28 PAOLACCI MARCO
The present invention concerns a self moving transport mean for partially disabled people and a method for using said transport mean in shopping centres or other specific public areas. The transport mean houses seats or wheel-chairs and gives the user the chance to access all the services of said areas thanks to proper drive systems, safety devices, and a simple and safe lifting device of a flat surface supporting the wheel-chair or the seat. The method of the invention provides a box for housing and recharging the transport means and the exchange of data between them and a central processing unit of the area apt to let the user completely enjoying the services of the area and the mobility features of the transport means.
109 A LIFT MECHANISM FOR A SEALING DEVICE PCT/US0316444 2003-05-23 WO2004035345A3 2004-07-01 STRONG RUSSELL W
A lift mechanism for a chair device, such as a wheelchair (12), that is intended to engaged the frame of the wheelchair (12) and lift and lower the wheelchair (12) between a ground engaging position and an elevated position. The lift mechanism (242) includes a lift arm having one end secured within and moveable with respect to a vehicle (244). The lift arm (246) has another end which can extend outwardly of the vehicle to engage the chair device. The lift arm (246) has a lift plate disposed adjacent the other end of the lift arm, which is intended to mate with or couple the frame of the wheelchair (12). The lift arm (246) is in communication with an actuator which controls the movement of the lift arm (246) between the ground engaging position and the elevated position. The lift mechanism utilizes a universal coupling system to effectuate elevation in vehicular transportation or architectural setting.

111 TRANSPORT APPARATUS PCT/US2010033727 2010-05-05 WO2010132255A3 2011-04-14 STRYKER MARTIN W
A transport apparatus includes a movable base, a sling, and a support frame mounted to the base. The frame extends over the base and is configured to move from a position spaced above the base at a first height wherein the frame may be extended over and proximate a support surface for engaging the sling when placed on the surface to another position spaced at a height greater than the first height after engagement with the sling. The sling is adapted to be engaged by the frame, which provides lateral support to the sling, wherein when the frame and sling are raised to the greater height the sling is raised above the surface so that a person supported on the sling may be lifted off the surface with the sling and the frame and supported in a stabilized sitting position so that the person can moved away from the surface.
