PURPOSE: To make wiring work simple in a standard procedure and reduce cost by forming a plurality of modules having a power terminal and a device terminal, classifying wire harnesses for connecting electronic devices in different regions, and joining each module housing using a tab tail. CONSTITUTION: A fuse box assembly 2 in a vehicle is made up of modules A to C. The module A receives power from power lines P1 to P3 and feeds power to each electronic device in different regions through a fuse F and device lines L1 to L3. A module B feeds power to an electronic device in a cockpit through a device line Z1, to an electronic device in an engine room through a device line Z2, and to an electronic device in a chassis through a device line Z3. In addition, an auxiliary device line 4 is provided. In this way, the wire harness is standardized and the wiring is simplified for reducing cost. COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO

PURPOSE: To enable electric terminal members to be mechanically assembled into a predetermined configuration by providing a housing with at least two grooves and a coding means comprising two pins that can fit and move into and out of the grooves. CONSTITUTION: Grooves 10 of T-cross section are provided in the top wall 3 and bottom wall 2 of a housing 1 made of a synthetic housing taking the form of a rectangular solid, in such a way that the grooves 10 are parallel to the side walls 4, 5 of the housing and at a predetermined interval to each other, with the front wall 6 of the housing serving as the starting point of each groove 10. The housing is coded as desired by closely fitting T-shaped pins 15 into the grooves 10. In this embodiment, in which ten plugs are provided according to whether or not the pins in the grooves are present, 1024 kinds of codes can be obtained. Further, an engagement finger piece 20 and an engagement eyelet part 21 which project respectively from the right and left walls 4, 5 are provided and engaged with the same members of another housing, so that a number of housings are connected together to make possible mechanical operations and coding while the housings are assembled into a band shape.

The invention concerns a compact electrical block consisting of two modular elements (D, P) attached along one of their side surfaces, and comprising fixing means maintaining them in contact with each other in said configuration thereby enabling double co-operation: a mechanical co-operation acting via a mechanical coupling acting through and along a direction perpendicular to said lateral surfaces plane; and an electrical co-operation via an interconnection operating in a direction perpendicular to that of the mechanical coupling. The invention is characterised in that one of the elements (P) comprises a member (4, 28) sliding along one of said directions, simultaneously ensuring, depending on the sliding direction, that the fixing means are mutually operative and: either the electrical connection when the mechanical coupling is produced; or the mechanical coupling when the electrical connection is produced; the electrical members powering and controlling (7, 25, 16) the element (P) comprising the sliding member (4, 28), including the connection terminals (7) and all the conductors (25), being dissociated from the members (10, 11, 12) producing the mechanical coupling by the sliding member (4, 28), and driven by a relative motion when the latter is moving.

The invention relates to an electronic tripping device (10) for a circuit breaker (7), containing a circuit arrangement for simulating the response curve of a fuse. Said circuit arrangement is controlled by means of a single setting mechanism (22) which represents nominal and rated currents of fuses. This results in better co-ordination of the protection in large energy supply installations containing circuit breakers and fuses. Tripping units fitted with microprocessors and analogue tripping units can be set up for the novel operating mode. According to the invention, the setting mechanism (22) is combined with a rated current connector for the 'fuse' mode, directly causing the tripping unit to be set to a current value and hereby making the novel protection system very safe to handle. The setting mechanism (22) is then provided with a corresponding legend, similarly to a real fuse. The simulated curves can be inflected late below a limit value to increase a nominal switching capacity and selectivity limit of a circuit breaker.
80 | Improved rating plug housing for circuit breakers | EP00311649.8 | 2000-12-22 | EP1113477A2 | 2001-07-04 | Marple, James A.; Soucy, Aaron R. |
An improved rating plug housing is presented for use with circuit breakers having electronic trip units. The housing (10) for the rating plug has a series of protruding tabs (14) on the bottom of the housing (10). A trip unit housing (50) forms part of a circuit breaker housing. Trip unit housing (50) includes a recess (52) for receiving the trip unit housing (10). Recess (52) has a series of castellations (54) on the bottom of the recess (52). If a rating plug is appropriate for a given trip unit, the pattern of tabs (14) and castellations (54) will not interfere, and insertion will be permitted. If a rating plug is not appropriate for a given trip unit, the pattern of tabs (14) and castellations (54) will interfere, and insertion will not be permitted. Tabs (14) or projections (53) may be removed from housing (10) or recess (52) using a hand-held tool. |
