14 Rating plug for circuit breakers US09473180 1999-12-28 US06346869B1 2002-02-12 James A. Marple; Aaron Soucy
An improved rating plug housing is presented for use with circuit breakers having electronic trip units. The housing (10) for the rating plug has a series of protruding tabs (14) on the bottom of the housing (10). A trip unit housing (50) forms part of a circuit breaker housing. Trip unit housing (50) includes a recess (52) for receiving the trip unit housing (10). Recess (52) has a series of castellations (54) on the bottom of the recess (52). If a rating plug is appropriate for a given trip unit, the pattern of tabs (14) and castellations (54) will not interfere, and insertion will be permitted. If a rating plug is not appropriate for a given trip unit, the pattern of tabs (14) and castellations (54) will interfere, and insertion will not be permitted. Tabs (14) or projections (53) may be removed from housing (10) or recess (52) using a hand-held tool.
15 Accessory compartment for high ampere-rated circuit breaker US248900 1994-05-25 US5605224A 1997-02-25 Raymond K. Seymour; Paul T. Rajotte; Paul H. Singer; John A. Pollman
This invention relates to a high ampere-rated circuit breaker which meets the electrical code requirements of the world market. The circuit breaker electronic trip unit is contained within a recess in the circuit breaker cover and is interlocked with the circuit breaker operating mechanism to articulate the operating mechanism upon removal. The accessory units are contained within an adjoining accessory compartment recess within the circuit breaker cover. Rejection pins on the accessories insure that the correct accessories are connected within the corresponding accessory compartments.
16 Circuit breaker comprising a removable calibrating device US217329 1994-03-23 US5450048A 1995-09-12 Jean-Francois Leger; Gilles Savoyat
A removable calibrating unit comprises a body, a front panel and a part in the form of a reversible ramp. The reversible ramp comprises an end close to the front panel and an end away from the front panel. Extraction of the removable unit is achieved by means of a pin comprising an extraction lug. When the pin is subjected to rotational movement in one direction, the lug moves from the end close to the front panel to the end away from the front panel and results in extraction of the unit by applying thereon a force separating the unit from the circuit breaker.
17 Electromagnetic switching device US582864 1991-04-08 US5347250A 1994-09-13 Markus Muske
An electromagnetic switching device comprises a housing containing a switch contact space and connection contact space, and a driving space formed by a basic body in which the magnet and coil are lodged. The parts of the connection contacts and coil connections of the pre-assembled contact carrier with return spring and of a switch space cover with an insertion device that can be releasably fastened to said cover, which are to be accommodated in the housing, are assembled in succession from a direction perpendicular to the sliding direction of the contact carrier and retained by interlocking connections.
18 Arrangement for coupling an auxiliary switch mechanism US765402 1991-09-24 US5197594A 1993-03-30 Johann Drexler; Erwin Flierl; Werner Harbauer
The invention concerns an arrangement to couple an auxiliary switch mechanism to an electrical switchgear unit, preferrably a contactor, with a contact slide piece onto which the moving contact pieces are mounted, and a switchgear housing onto which the switchgear fixed-mounted contact pieces are mounted. The contact slide pieces of the switchgear unit and the auxiliary switch mechanism are mounted so that they can slide transversely to the direction of connection. A projection of the auxiliary switch mechanism is positioned in a cutout of the contactor in an interlocking fashion. The connection of contact slide pieces similarly takes place in a positive, interlocking fashion. A lock makes an effective connection with the position of the contact slide piece in the auxiliary switch mechanism, thereby preventing the removal of the auxiliary switch mechanism when the unit is switched on.
19 Molded case circuit interrupter rating plug keying and interlock arrangement US310180 1989-02-15 US5027091A 1991-06-25 David J. Lesslie; Robert A. Morris; Alan J. Messerli; Graham A. Scott; Alexander A. Krajewski
An electronic circuit interrupter includes an electronic trip circuit contained within a circuit interrupter enclosure along with an externally accessible rating plug for setting the ampere rating. The rating plug includes keying tabs that fit within corresponding keying slots formed on the top surface of the electronic circuit interrupter enclosure. Interlock is provided between the rating plug and the electric panelboard which includes a plurality of electronic circuit interrupters connected within an industrial power system. Tabs formed on the side walls of the rating plug are trapped under the panelboard face plate to prevent removal of the rating plug without first removing the panelboard face plate.
