The push-button switch member includes a key-top portion and a cover base member which is provided at a predetermined portion of the key-top portion and which is adapted to be mounted to the circuit board. The key-top portion includes a display section for displaying a switching function and an area emitter which is integrally formed with the display section. The area emitter member is provided with a light emitting layer disposed between a base electrode and a transparent electrode, which is disposed so as to oppose the base electrode. The transparent electrode is arranged to be contacted to the display section and is formed of a transparent conductive polymer.
