21 Circuit breaker with a detachable connection between a switching contact arrangement and a drive apparatus which operates it, as well as a method for removal and installation of the switching contact arrangement US10222580 2002-08-19 US20030057067A1 2003-03-27 Michael Bach; Detlev Schmidt; Guenter Seidler-Stahl; Ingo Thiede; Sezai Tuerkmen; Artur Wajnberg
A circuit breaker includes a switching contact arrangement and a drive apparatus which operates it, with the connection between the switching contact arrangement and the drive apparatus being designed such that it is detachable. For this purpose, a contact support of the switching contact arrangement contains a coupling bolt, which produces a hinged connection to a lever arrangement for the drive apparatus. A holding piece allows a actuating shaft of the drive apparatus to be rotated to a position, and to be fixed in this position. This allows the switching contact arrangement to be removed without any problem, and subsequently to be replaced by another switching contact arrangement. Once the control panel for the circuit breaker has been removed, the holding piece can be placed on the actuating shaft and can be attached to a front housing body of the circuit breaker where the control panel would otherwise be located.

A movable contact assembly for contactors and similar devices includes a movable spanner or conductive element biased toward a conducting position by a biasing element. A housing partially surrounds the conductive element and the biasing element. The biasing element and exerts compressive forces against the housing and the conductive element. The assembly may be installed as a modular unit on a carrier which is displaced during operation of the contactor. The housing shields the biasing element from plasma, arcs and debris during operation of the device. Multiple conductive elements and corresponding biasing elements may be includes in each assembly.
23 Electrical switching apparatus with contact finger guide US74135 1998-05-07 US5899323A 1999-05-04 Paul Richard Rakus
A contact guide member extends transversely to the contact fingers on the contact carrier of electrical switching apparatus and has spaced openings through which the contact fingers extend and are held in spaced relation. The contact finger guide member is positioned to isolate the arc toes adjacent the free ends of the contact fingers from the main contacts and the contact springs in order to protect the latter items from the arc gases and debris generated during arcing. The openings in the contact finger guide member are elongated to permit differentially pivoting of the contact fingers, but not axial movement. The contact finger guide member slides in a pocket molded in the end face of the contact carrier and is captured by and moves with the contact fingers.
24 Replaceable bushing and contact assembly for blade type air insulated switchgear US106379 1987-10-06 US4886945A 1989-12-12 Gerald B. Roberts; Edward L. West
Improved switchblade-type, air dielectric switchgear apparatus is provided which utilizes a minimum of supporting insulators and incorporates readily field-replaceable bushing assemblies so that the switchgear apparatus may be serviced in the field using only conventional tools. In preferred forms, the switchgear apparatus includes internal switch assemblies making use of substantially vertically oriented switchblades mounted for pivotal movement about an elevated, generally horizontal axis located above the corresponding stationary contacts. The replaceable bushing assemblies are advantageously mounted at a level for interconnection with the upper ends of associated switchblades, and the assemblies include a conical outermost connection and adapted to receive a line connecting elbow, together with an elongated, inwardly extending, electrically conductive intermediate portion carrying an innermost terminal. The inner terminal is designed for frictionally engaging the upper end of an associated switchblade, and for this purpose includes a pair of depending, spring-loaded contact plates. If a given bushing assembly requires replacement, it is only necessary to externally disconnect the assembly from the switch housing wall, followed by manual removal of the defective assembly. An identical replacement assembly is then inserted through the tank wall and the assembly terminal is initially positioned relative to the switchblade, this operation being facilitated by visual inspection through a window below the bushing assemblies. The replacement bushing is then attached using external connection hardware, this operation serving to properly and finally position the terminal relative to the switchblade.

39 Press-button switching device with spring-biased bridge-forming contact US843697 1997-04-16 US5841085A 1998-11-24 Alfred Rittinghaus; Bernhard Jaworek
A press-button switching device includes a housing, stationary and movable contacts mounted in the housing, an actuating member constructed as a press-button which is guided during its switching movement in the interior of the housing and which moves the movable contacts into the respective switching positions thereof. A compression spring is arranged between the actuating member and the housing, wherein the actuating member is movable into the housing against the force of the spring. The movable contacts are each constructed as a bridge-forming contact which bridges two strip conductors in the switched-on position. During the inwardly and outwardly directed movements of the actuating member, the bridge-forming contact is moved along the strip conductors. At its end contacting the actuating member, the compression spring continues as a spring arm whose free end resiliently presses the bridge contact against the strip conductors.
40 Modular electrical switch and switching assembly for industrial elevators US126994 1993-09-24 US5508480A 1996-04-16 Ronald D. Quinlan
A modular electrical switch provides a wiping or shearing action upon closing and opening thereof. A contact carrier disposed within a housing linearly carries a movable contact into engagement with a stationary contact. The contact carrier is guided by movable slide plates disposed on either side thereof and movable along with the contact carrier as a contact assembly. The guide plates also provide pivot recesses for pivot bosses of the contact carrier. The contact carrier is constrained to linear motion up to the point of contact between the movable contact and the stationary contact by a cam trace in the housing. After contact between the movable contact and the stationary contact, the contact carrier reaches a pocket defined by the cam trace, ceases linear movement and upwardly pivots to provide a wiping action between the movable contact and the stationary contact. Immediately upon reversed, pivoting and linear motion of the contact carrier a shearing action is provided between the movable contact and the stationary contact. A plurality of such modular switches are utilized in a freight elevator interlock system for regulating the opening and closing of the various doors and carriage of the freight elevator. A common sliding actuator controls the modular switches regardless of the orientation of the respective switches within the housing.
