A novel musical instrument (101) comprises at least one tunable string (102), a holding device (130) for holding the at least one string (102), an electrically or electronically operated excitation device (116, 116') for contactlessly exciting the at least one string (102), a sound-producing body (108) for acoustically emitting the vibration of the string, and an interface (113) for delivering a signal for the excitation device (116, 116'), whereby the signal is produced independently from the at least one string (102). The excitation device (116, 116') permits the excitation of string vibrations with sufficiently large amplitudes so that the sound-producing body (108) can emit tones with sound levels located at least in the range of known acoustic string instruments. A bridge (112) is placed between the sound-producing body (108) and the at least one string (102) in order to transfer the vibrations of the string to the sound-producing body (108). The electroacoustic musical instrument (101) has the quality of resonance capability or of discrete overtones, and permits a synthesis of the acoustic sound beauty with electronic versatility.

The invention relates to a lute comprising a body-shaped sound box and a neck attached thereto. The sound box is made up of a domed rear section and a cover. The aim of the invention is to provide a lute which can meet the needs of modern concert performances and be used by contemporary guitarists, whereby the excellent sound qualities of the lute are retained and the instrument can be used in a modern-day orchestra. This is achieved by providing the cover and the string-holder with a outwardly curved shape; a surface that is devoid of any transverse beams is arranged on the underside in an approximately symmetrical position with respect to the string holder and said surface is configured as a strip-free surface or fitted with strips which are symmetrical with respect to the center axis.

An acoustic guitar is broken down into a body (11), a neck (13) and a head (14), and the neck (13) and the head (14) are differently finished, wherein a panel (20) already coated with paint for bright finish is attached to an incomplete head (14a) formed at the heading end of the neck, which has been already treated with oil so that any mask is not required in the finishing work.

A stringed musical instrument is provided with a plate or soundboard that is curved to define a crest parallel to the A stringed musical instrument is provided with a plate or soundboard that is curved to define a crest parallel to the strings. If the instrument is a closedbox instrument, another plate opposing the first plate may be curved to define a crest perpendicular to the strings. The first plate may be supported by transverse braces, which are scalloped to leave substantial air gaps along the glue line once the brace is attached. The back plate may be supported by a substantial longitudinal brace or spine, which runs down its center parallel to the strings. The spine contains a substantial portion of the mass of the back plate. These musical instruments have reduced wolf tones and improved harmonic generation over common instruments, and therefore have a more complex and pleasing tone than common instruments. The harmonic character of these instruments is fully exploited by using one or more harmonic bridges in addition to the primary bridge.

A stringed instrument having a flex action tremolo. The assembly includes a neck of the stringed instrument that is capable of pivoting to cause the stings of the instrument to slack or tighten depending on the movement of the neck. A metal bar extends across a portion of the hollow portion of the body and is connected to the neck. There is at least one spring-loaded connection between the metal bar and the inside surface of the hollow portion of the body. This allows the metal bar and neck to pivot at one or more angles relative to the longitudinal axis of the neck, while maintaining the tuning of the guitar when the neck is returned to a neutral position.
