Vision training eyewear include lenses having a plurality of obscuration zones. The obscuration zones are individually switchable to provide light emission or attenuation that can interfere with normal vision of the wearer. A pattern or sequence of patterns can be selectively activated at a fixed or variable rate while a trainee is exposed to a test situation.

A sideshield eye protector is presented which includes a comfort and safety wing (58) that is formed as a surface appendage thereon, and extends in a generally perpendicular direction from the surface of the sideshield (28) along the contoured edge of the sideshield positioned closest to the wearer's face. The comfort and safety wing may be integral to the sideshield forming an integral structure therewith or removably attached thereto. The comfort and safety wing is oriented generally parallel with the facial surfaces and generally follows the proximate facial contours. A separate wing portion may be fabricated on both the upper and lower parts of each sideshield, the upper wing portion extending from the upper contoured edge of the sideshield which provides additional coverage over the upper portion of the eye orbits, temple and lower forehead area. The lower face about the lower eye orbit and upper cheek area has a generally parallel orientation with those facial surfaces.

The invention relates to a method for creating a blank (1) for producing a protective screen for sports glasses, said method being characterised in that the blank (1 ) is produced by injecting a tinted transparent thermoplastic material into an injection mould comprising a cavity which is arranged in such a way as to form a plate (10), and from which the screen is to be removed once a determined form has been cut out. Said injection mould also comprises an injection region provided with an inlet which communicates with an injection point (12) and an outlet which communicates with the cavity by an injection threshold (13). Said injection region is arranged in such a way as to form a removable injection heel (11) which is attached to the plate (10), the ratio of the length (L1 ) of the injection threshold (13) and the length (L2) of the plate (10) being between 15 and 100 %, preferably between 30 and 80 %.

A method for mounting safety shields onto eyeglass temples and a kit for carrying out that method. A temple (14) of an eyeglass frame is placed in a channel (18) forming part of a side shield (12), thereafter, a pin (16) is inserted into an opening formed in the side shield to create a force fit between the temple, the channel and the pin which attaches the side shield to the temple. The side shield is placed in its operative position before the pin is inserted into the opening, and the force fit resulting from the insertion of the pin into the opening holds the side shield in its operative position.

An impact resistant face shield that includes a single formed arcuate lens portion (12) that, in a first orientation, has a first curvature (16) extending in a horizontal direction and a second curvature (18) extending in a vertical direction. The lens portion has a top portion and a bottom portion (20) that extends relatively inwardly toward the face of the wearer relative to an intermediate portion disposed between the top and bottom portions. Each curvature of the lens defines an arc of a circle having a substantially uniform radius to produce nominal levels of distortion, thereby reducing the prism effects created by the lens, and providing an optically corrected viewing window.
