A method and apparatus for gauging vessels, e.g. drinking glasses, employ a gauging member (11) having a part (12) engageable with a vessel to locate the vessel axially relative to the gauging member and marking means (29) disposed at a predetermined spacing from said part and adapted to place a gauge mark on the vessel, said mark indicating the level to which the vessel must be filled to contain a predetermined quantity of liquid. To give improved accuracy, at least with some types of glass, the part (12) comprises an end portion of an elongated gauging member (11) and said end portion engages the interior of the vessel, preferably adjacent its base. Suction may be applied through the gauging member to hold the vessel in position for marking. |

A dispensing system that includes a bottle, a valve cap, a dosing cap. The bottle includes a side wall having at least a portion that is flexible. The valve cap regulates the dispensing of a flowable product from bottle into the dosing cap. In particular, flowable product may be dispensed from the bottle into the dosing cap when the dispensing system is in an inverted position and while the dosing cap is attached to valve cap. The valve cap and the dosing cap may support the dispensing system in the inverted position.

A measuring vessel (1) for determining the accuracy with which a liquid fuel dispenser dispenses liquid fuel comprises a neck (4) of transparent material. A primary arcuate panel (16) having three primary graduated scales (14) corresponding to three different kinds of liquid fuels is secured to the neck (4). Primary graduations (17) of the respective primary graduated scales (14) indicate the level to which the meniscus of actual volumes of the respective liquid fuel dispensed at the temperatures corresponding to the primary graduations (17) should rise so that the energy content of the actual volumes of the respective liquid fuels dispensed is equal to the energy content of a predefined calibration volume of the corresponding liquid fuel at a predefined reference temperature typically of 15° C. A secondary arcuate panel (20) having a secondary graduated scale (22) thereon is slideable relative to the primary graduated scales (17) so that a reference graduation (23) of the secondary graduated scale (22) can be aligned with an appropriate one of the primary graduations (17) of an appropriate one of the primary graduated scales (14), in order that the amount by which the actual volume of liquid fuel dispensed exceeds or falls below the actual volume which should have been dispensed.

The invention provides measuring devices (10) for managing the weight of animals and methods of using the measuring devices. In a general aspect, the measuring devices comprise a container (22) having a first side (20) with a cavity (24) and a second opposing side (30) having a cavity (26) that is larger than the cavity of the first side. The first side cavity is sized to hold an amount of food that restricts caloric intake of an animal. The second side cavity is sized to hold an amount of food that provides a daily requirement for weight management of an animal. |
