CONSTITUTION: A plug has electrical conductor strips 62, 70 for connection to an electrical cord 86 and has at its inner end a retainer shoulder 42 adapted to be engage and to be frictionally embraced and retained by the live clip contact fingers 34 of a cigar lighter receptacle 10. A spring-biased contact plunger 48 at the inner end of the plug 38 is connected to one 62 of conductor strips. The plunger 48 is adapted for abutting engagement by spring pressure, with the rigid mounting 32 of the contact fingers 34 of the cigar lighter receptacle, when the plug body 38 is positioned deeply in the cigar lighter receptacle 10.

PURPOSE: To enable a full automatic operation and a repeated use thereof without a rupture thereof, by disposing a protective element having PTC-resistance characteristics which depend on temperature with a socket housing and a minus contact portion in series electrically, so as to make the protective element thermally connected with the socket housing.
CONSTITUTION: When an ignition plug is pressed into a socket housing 2, the wall of the ignition plug comes into contact with the wall of the socket housing 2, while a glow element of the ignition plug comes into contact with a bimetal spring contact 5. Due to such a construction, an electric current which heats the glow element flows to a minus contact portion 3 by way of a plus contact portion 4, the bimetal contact 5, the housing wall of the ignition plug, the socket housing 2, a bottom wall portion 6 and a protecting element 1. Self-heating is generated in the protective element 1 and a leakage current flows when the temperature reaches a given limit temperature. This leakage current prevents heating which exceeds an allowable range. When a cause of an overload is removed, the protecting element automatically returns to the start position.

CONSTITUTION: A spring contact in an electric cigar lighter in which an electric circuit is formed when a heater element is inserted into a spring contact so as to generate heat is provided with a main body having a bi-metal 1 and a bolt 2, an insulating member 3, two planar connecting pieces 4 and 4', a washer 6 and a nut 7. A temperature melting conductive packing 10 comprised of a low melting point metallic part A capable of electrically connecting both pieces 4 and 4' and an insulating erastomer B is inserted between the planar connecting pieces 4 and 4'. As material of the low melting point metallic part A forming the temperature melting conductive packing, metal or alloy having melting point lower than 430°C is preferable and as material for the insulating erastomer B, erastomer of solid type is preferable in view of the fact that it has a resiliency as a packing.

A circular plate G which is put on the center shaft is strongly pushed to the inner wall surface of an outer peripheral projecting part K of the plate F by the tip parts J, J' of spring mechanisms H, H' and the plate G is coupled with the plate F. Further, the projections D, D' of the plate B are aligned with two holes M, M' at the back side of the plate G and then the plate G and B are united and a spring wound watch type timer is attached at the outer periphery of the projection K. At the specified time, the projections I, I' are pulled back by the action of a mechanism integrated into the timer and the tip parts J, J' are separated from the projecting parts K and the plate G is rotated to a ignition stop position by two springs P, P' between the plate G and F and therefore, the plate B is also rotated to stop ignition. |

In addition, the connector 1 for cigar lighter is connected by a cord 17 with a branch jack 18, out of which two cords 2 and 10 are led in order to be respectively connected with an adapter main body 3 and with a connector 12 for an air purifier. The air purifier 13 is put into rotation by means of a switch 8 in order to purify the foul air inside the automobile. Further, when the lighting of a cigar is started, a push-in-to-operate switch 5 is depressed, resulting in heating up an inner heater so as to be able to light a cigar with a heater part 4. |
